Does anyone else feel old or behind the times?

I'm 35, well in 10 days, i feel i'm pretty open minded and hip. but the kids today and the music and all the mp3s and phones and games it just has escaped me. i never thought i would feel this way i guess its inevitable.

when you start using the words "open minded and hip" mainly the word "hip" then you are way behind the times.

im 20 and i already feel alittle behind. i dont even know how to use an ipod. i still use dialup internet, my phone only has the ringtones it comes with. i listen to whatever sounds good. i still dress like im in high school. i still play games

Guess you feel like any over thirty person in today's hip generation.  What I see and cannot explain where the youngsters get their money to buy, upgrade, and learn how to operate their gadgets.  What I am learning that most kids spend more time playing with these gadgets than doing their homework or getting acceptable grades.

I cant say much, Im only 13, but there are some things I like from older times. For example, music. I cant stand modern rap or hip-hop. Even modern rock is getting heavy.

I'm 35 just about to turn 36 and what I've found from my own thoughts as well as talking to other women our age or just a tad older is that we go through a very deep time in someways trying to understand exactly where we fit now that we are.... Dare I say...... Middle aged. I feel like 16 but then I feel old at the same time if that makes sense, sometimes I feel like I'm just playing house and it is so surreal.

I'm not up with the music really, I'm an 80s Rock Chick at heart and of late I'm right into Swing music but what is amazing is that I have boys ranging from 16 down to 8 and they love the older music, my 16 year old especially. And lately we've gotten the kids into all the 80's and 90's TV shows coming out on DVD, even all the old Jerry Lewis classics and stuff like that...... They help make me feel younger without even realizing it.

I'm a bit of a Techno Junkie so I keep up with what is out there but I have plenty of friends who don't.

Quite honestly though I think we live in a time where many times are blended together from the 60's through to now. I know my 16 year old often says he feels like he should have been born 40 years ago.

On here sometimes,with all the initials , I do know what LOL is .I do think some of the angry attitudes I feel make me feel old. jeez You sure don't look 35.

duuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuude, your preaching to the pastor. at just 14, it seems like i should be in the 60's or something. give me one minute on the tv, and i will find something that i hate. i sound like one of those bitter old men talking about "kids these days" in a normal conversation. its hard living in a time where the only things that are considered wrong are the things that say something is wrong. he, freedom is speech indeed. we should have the freedom to question as well as to except, but if its not politically correct, then its bad, and anything that anyone disagrees with is politically incorrect. you know what we need? a good hard slap in the face. every man, woman, child, politician, and two for teenagers. they need to wake up and smell the stupidity, because everyone is so used to it that they just live with it and live by it like a religion. well i'll tell you what, this country has to much potential to have stupidity as its national religion. oh well.

I've decided that instead of feeling old and behind, I'll describe it as having learned a lot, less ready for new input.  Or that it is irrelevant.

It's okay.  Are you worried you won't be able to turn yourself into a mermaid?  jk  I still hardly know how to use the camera on my phone.  If I accidentally stumble through all the options, I end up on the internet, not being able to turn that off and wondering if it will bill me extra. <sigh>  Oh, well.
