  1. Forbes used to be trained by Roger Mayweather when he fought for Top Rank so I don't think Oscar is very familiar with his style. Forbes doesn't hit hard enough to hurt Oscar in any way. the fight might look like Oscar is caring him, but I think its more Stevie's defense than anything.

  2. Forbes is a good, safe measuring device to see what DeLa Hoya has left.  Steve doesn't hit hard, but is well schooled and durable.  It will be an easy night for DeLa Hoya if Oscar has anything of his early skill left.  Odds of DeLa Hoya "taking a dive" are slim and none, Oscar doesn't seem the type, although some looked at the body shot from Hopkins that pole axed DeLa Hoya with raised eyebrows.  Oscar should win an easy unanimous decision, and if nothing out of the ordinary occurs, then the Forbes fight was just a tune up for Mayweather.  If Oscar suddenly gets KOed from a punch that misses by a foot, we may have problems, but until that happens, consider the fight what it is...a tune up.

  3. Oscar will go the rounds with Forbes, but make no mistake about it, Oscar will get a UD.

There are 20 to 30 million reasons Oscar will not lose to Forbes.  Oscar is all about money.

Even by losing to DLH, Forbes will get more chances against big names, simply becasue he has fought Oscar.  It is a win/win for Oscar and Forbes.  Oscar will get his megafight with PBF, and Forbes will be fighting against 2nd tier opposition instead of completely unknown fighters.

  4. That's a definite possibility.

  5. My prediction from the beginning has been that Oscar will win a lopsided unanimous decision.  He even stated himself on the "Countdown" show that this fight was an opportunity for him to "work on some things."  He is going to put into action some of the things that he has been working on in the gym with Floyd Mayweather, Sr. particularly the jab.  If he does get the stopppage, it will be late in the fight, and even then, I don't think that he'll get it because Forbes is a crafty, defensive fighter who knows how to survive and and has never been knocked down or out.  Oscar will not however take a dive- that would make him lose out on all the money involved in a Mayweather, Jr. rematch.  And Forbes is not his "Golden Boy" protege- Forbes was involved with "The Contender" which is run by Jeff Wald and Sugar Ray Leonard.  Oscar had his own show called "The Next Great Champ" but it had no success and barely lasted one season.  In the end, I believe that Oscar will get a lopsided win and move onto his big-money rematch with Mayweather, and Forbes will get credit and more marketabililty for having gone the distance with De La Hoya.

  6. forbes has never been stopped, and i think that if de la hoya in under prepared, it could be a long night.

oscar needs a good work out before he takes on pbf again, an early stoppage will do his ring rust no favours

  7. Oscar will certainly not take a dive.   But there is no guarantee he will win either.  I think he will win but it won't be an easy night for him.

Sure Oscar is risking a lot of money if he loses but there's something else.  For all his political maneuvers, I do believe Oscar comes closest to having boxing's best interest at heart.  He's a bit self serving but he's the lesser of many evils.

  8. Actually, I see Oscar making a fifth round stoppage, similar to what he did with Gatti years back. I think it's statement time if his last couple fights are going to be huge money makers.

  9. Why would Oscar take a dive and lose millions for a rematch with Mayweather? If you want to read about this fight head on over to http://www.fightjunkie.com/predictions they have a write-up on the fight and also a forum where you can go and chat about this and many other fight related stuff.
