Does anyone else find it weird...?

Question

watching anyone else besides the Chinese or Japanese doing Karate (Martial Arts)? I sure do. I'm Chinese, though. It just doesn't look right when an American is doing karate, since everyone, well mostly everyone, puts Karate and Chinese people (or chinks) together. Am I right? <(-^_^-)^

No I don&#039;t find it weird at all. On the contrary, I find it weird that YOU find it weird. I think people from the country of origin of the martial arts in question, should be proud to see people of other cultures adopting theirs. Oriental martial arts have a facet that no western arts have... i.e. an infusion of philosophy with the physical aspects.

The martial art that I practice has few &quot;native&quot; practitioners in the U.S. even though its founder is a Japanese immigrant. Despite this, the traditions and cultural aspects of the art are agressively preserved by its exponents.

I don&#039;t think you will find many supporters of your rather narrow perspective.

Furthermore, such opinions voiced in this public forum, do little to demonstrate that martial artists in general and the arts that they study, have any intellectual components whatsoever. Not a good thing, my friend.

I dont find any of this weird at all. Karate is an overall martial art anyone can learn even and american. If you see a cow doing kung-fu then thats weird.

LOL  I used to. I am a round eye, All of my students are round eye except my two best who are Korean. Besides the Chinese arts originated in India.

I think its funny when guys think they look cool doing something and then get their a$$es handed to them, regardless of race or style.

i dont think its wierd. i&#039;m a white american doing karate and i&#039;m fine with it even though others think it&#039;s really weird. i just dont let them get to me.

Karate is an Okinawin style, so why should it bother you?
