Question:

Does anyone else find loads of red elastic bands outside the door after the postman has been?

I keep picking them up and have a bag full now, is my postman just being lazy and should be taking back to be recycled. He gets the post all wrong too. I was considering asking Royal Mail for some wages as I spend time posting the letters through the right letterboxes.

  1. Yes I get them all the time. I'm afraid my cat is going to try and eat one!!

  2. Well yes, how great to get something from royal mail other then unsolicited junk mail, at least these items can be reused! Doubt whether your postman is lazy, but pissed of with his job and basically could not care less, who the h**l privatised the post office in the beginning and who finances the junk mail they have to deliver? Well, the odd rubber band on your garden path, or wrong mail delivered, is a passive protest at the end of the day!

  3. yes all the time my son keeps picking them up and using them for his wrestling cards.

  4. Royal Mail says that they are biodegradeable. It's still litter and Royal Mail should be fined for this slovenly behaviour. What sort of example is this?

  5. Evidently it's not just around here, then. We have a good collection, they come in handy for all sorts - thanks, Royal Mail!  Always courtesy of the "relief" postie though, the usual one's spot on. We can always tell when the walking zombie's on the job from the trail of rubber bands along the street and the necessity of redelivering the mail to the right addresses.

  6. Phone your local depot and lodge a complaint they are meant to pick them up as they kill birds who think they are worms!!

  7. Yes - all up the blasted drive - grrrrrr

  8. Yes, I do to, it's down to lazy postmen, a serious point believe it or not, lots of birds choke to death as they pick the elastic bands up thinking they are worms.

  9. Yes I've got a bag full too.  Next time I go into the Post Office I'll give them back - recycling and all that.

  10. nope sorry... i would use them around your home

  11. In the U.S. (at least my area), they're brown. I can't remember the last time I had to buy rubber (elastic) bands of that size.

  12. Funnily enough yes.... I'm always finding elastic bands on my door step!
