Does anyone else find napolion dynamite depressing?

so i was watching it today and i realized i find it so depressing. like the town they live in is like, they live in the middle of no where. (idaho haha) but then like when they're @ the dance its just so depressing. idk even how to explain but can someone tell me if they feel the same!?

I feel the same, but once you live in a calm town like that, you will find out that is alot better than the city.

I used to live in a small town, the days lasted longer, you didn't get depressed alot etc.

Oh my gosh! That's what my mom said when she watched it! (she only watched like 1/2 of it, tho). And I totally used to live in a town exactly like that one! But yes, the whole point of the movie is that it's so depressing it's hilarious.

No, that is the way things in a small town are...simple.  How could any movie with the under-dog prevailing in the end be depressing?
