Does anyone else find olives totally tasteless...they are always being praised as a great appetizer and so?

Tasteless? Hardly; I think a good olive is flavorful and delicious, if not a bit bitter and salty. You're probably used to those boring green olives you get in a jar.

See if your grocery store has an olive bar; most do nowadays. They have whole olives with seeds, and olives stuffed with garlic or jalapeno. Kalamata olives, the dark-colored ones from Greece are the best.

Olives are loaded with Omega-3 fatty acids that are said to lower bad cholesterol, raise good cholesterol and prevent most types of cancers.

Olive is a complete opposite from TASTELESS. They are rich with flavour. I start like olive not too long ago. First time I had it, I thought it was nasty and too strong. But now, I like it. And Olives also have some elegant taste, which is hard to explain in word :)

They're hit an miss for me. Black olives and plain green cocktail olives with those disgusting fake pimento things are as foul and lame as you say, but I have to say, I love picking up a half pound of fancy olives at the yuppie grocery store from the olive bar.

If you ever want to punish yourself, find an olive tree and eat one straight off the tree. I've had more unpleasant things in my life but not many. Whoever started cultivating those and figured out that in order to make them even remotely edible you have to soak them in caustic lye (like that stuff from Fight Club) for several weeks must've been fond of the hookah.
