young as 14 can work, but most places want people to be 16. Typically, where will they hire people under 16? It seems if you work with money they want you to be 16.

  1. It has to do with Liability insurances and the unfortunate reputations of 14 year old to goof off and not do the job and then complain about being scolded.  And go home and cry to Mom who calls your boss and reams hm out.

It is a teen thing.  Most people in business do not like working with young teens.  It is too much trouble.

Even if you are the shining exception to all this, they may not let you prove it.  It is unfortunate.

You may have to go into business for yourself.

A lawn service business.  a pet walking service.

Think about it.  You are thinking seriously about your future.  I am impressed.  Talk to your teachers about how to find a job.

The money for a car or college will not just materialize when it is needed.  You get that.

  2. grocery stores will usually hire people as young as fourteen for things like stocking shelves or bagging  but your right for jobs dealing with money alot of places want you to be 16.

  3. Usually because a lot of teenagers are childish/don't know how to take direction/are not that dependable because they can't drive etc.

  4. Not very many places will, I don't think people under 16 need jobs anyway; you don't have a car or college so why do you need a job?

EDIT: I never said my parents bought everything for me, just don't think kids younger than 16 need a job. I'm in college and I've had to take out loans to pay for stuff and that's life, it might not be fair or whatever but it's life; kids under 16 for the most part are really immature, that's probably why employers don't want to deal with them .

  5. Try a big grocery chain, I know one here in New England (Market Basket) hires at 14. Also try any local farms, they are always looking for good field hands.
