Does anyone else find the jury selection system inconvenient? How would you improve it?

I just went to jury duty for 2 hours just to be told that they didn't need me. One lady in the room was 34 and had never been called to jury duty before. Another lady had been summoned every year for 4 years. Do you think the system is poor? If you do, what would you suggest to improve it? (I think one thing is more entertaining waiting rooms. Eight hours is a long time to read and stare at the wall.)

It is better than years ago.  I was called every two years and sat for two weeks, even if never chosen.   Now you call in.

Haven't been called in the past 10 years.

Okay, you just hit the nail on the head. Jury duty is supposed to be a civic responsibility. It's not meant to be entertaining. Did you honestly think it was going to be like an episode of, L.A. Law.
