Does anyone else find the name "Hussein" disturbing?

I do not support Obama, but I do not find the name "Hussein" disturbing.

I am asking this question since I recently read in the opinion section of my university's newspaper (which serves 30,000+) that someone could not support a presidential candidate who has the name Hussein.

I found his argument to be both poor and disturbing. I can think of a plethora of reasons why I do not support Obama, and his name is not one of them.

Am I the only one who finds this sort of reasoning disturbing and is jeopardizing our political system.

  1. no, i dont care what his name is. but i'm with you...obama disturbs me period!

  2. lmao hes a muslim because his father was black mother was white and raised Christan ? wow no wonder the world hates are country is made of 98% ignorance .. obama/biden 08!!! from a oif war vet

  3. Not personally, but I think the man behind the name in this case is disturbing.

While we're on the subject of names though, how can having the name Hussein not be an issue in the election?

It certainly was an issue while the man was forming his identity as a child, and the kind of people he related to.

  4. YOu are an idiot.

  5. No it's a very common name.

  6. doglover... when's the last time you read the KORAN???

As the son of the Muslim father, Obama was born a Muslim UNDER MUSLIM LAW as it is universally understood. His father, however, renounced his religion, making him an apostate. But, UNDER AMERICAN LAW, Obama is not a Muslim as he chose to become a Christian. So, if you follow Muslim law, you yourself must be Muslim.

The Prophet Muhammad once said, "No babe is born but upon Fitra (as a Muslim). It is his parents who make him a Jew or a Christian or a Polytheist." (Sahih Muslim, Book 033, Number 6426). So, I guess that makes you a Muslim, too.

And no, I don't find the name Hussein disturbing.

  7. I too can think of a plethora of reasons why I would not support Obama but his name....Barack Hussein Obama is one of them because in reality he is a Muslim.  The Koran says, once a Muslim always a Muslim.  One cannot give up the faith. Hussein can still sing the evening payer in perfect Arabic.  He was and still is a Muslim. I don't want a Muslim in the White House.
