  1. Some things about it are cheesy and nothing will ever top the mid-90s TV show "Sightings," but I have to admit that it's better than Ghost Hunters, Is It Real? and a lot of the other paranormal junk on the television these days.

I actually kind of like this one to be honest. Unlike the TAPS crew that specializes in in-fighting, this guy seems sincere and concerned when he interacts with people on the show.

  2. Hmm, in that show, I would have to admit, I find some cliches. like "dead time" which is 3:00 am. I think that real ghosts dont wait for 3 am to come out. Also, it's kind of unrealistic. the stories are cliches that you could only write for TV.

  3. Not a fan at all.  First, they "ALWAYS" find something.  In real life at least 2/3's of suspected hauntings are not at all.  Secondly, why does it seem they deal w/ negative spirits so often????

I don't like the "journaling" the whole way through the show either.

    Just my opinion though.

  4. Honestly, I find it quite boring -- and I love ghost shows!

  5. I do find paranormal state to be bad tv because the first few episodes that i saw all they kept saying is that it was a demon in the house, and as a paranormal investigator i know that it is very rare to see a demon everywhere you go

  6. i think it is intriguing. but I do think that they can do with out the voice recording. and sometimes I do think it gets boring but so can the other paranormal shows. it depends on the episode!

  7. Oh yes.

Mixing spiritualism and demonology with paranormal "investigation" is like cross-breeding a unicorn with a dragon.

  8. I finally watched a couple of episodes, and I have to admit that I like it better than all the rest, but yeah, I'm not fond it. It's a tad better then the rest, but not much--it's all about TV ratings, whichs DRAMA.

  9. I can't guess if it what they are thinking.  Does anyone really think it's real?  I have spent my hole life surrounded by paranormal stuff and never saw any of this c**p.  I guess it is somebody's idea what ghosts are, some Hollywood  dumb sh*t writer who never saw a real ghost.

  10. As reality shows go, it's OK. The whole run-time for the show is only 22 minutes and they try to put the best of what happens as well as the leading developments. We're probably going to have to wait for the hour long commercial-less episodes if we're going to be really impressed. Don't forget the DVD and missing footage, maybe stuff too disturbing for TV? I really think the show is either holding back a bit to build up the drama or it just might be another johnny come lately reality series.

  11. Actually I find it good TV if good is determined by ratings and reality shows are all the rage right now.

I find the investigative methods to be poor.

I suppose it is harder when you focus on one family or incident rather than combining them to offer evidence of unusual claims (hauntings, demons, etc.) so this may be in part why the show offers little evidence (this and bad procedures) obviously not every experiment will show evidence for any particular phenomena.

It would be interesting to see real science be practiced in this area (most parapsychologist long ago retreated to laboratories) and many skeptics don't actually investigate or conduct research. I'm not sure that would be good TV (as in high ratings) so I don't hold my breath for it to happen.

For my part I would like to see these students ask a real scientist to take part in (maybe even improve) their investigations. The show could even be balanced between parapsychologist (or other scientist) and skeptics (hopefully that would also be scientist).

Then at the end we could hear conclusions from everyone involved.

I think the show is now just about how a person with religious beliefs forms a group and goes to help people. There is nothing wrong with this approach (many religions do the same thing) but it is not science and does not provide evidence. I also think you have to be careful (they are not) to not impose your personal/religious beliefs into an investigation. I do wonder if people that call for help know it will be approached from a spiritual perspective.

    More than my two cents.

  12. yeah its bad, they could do without the voice recordinngs and try to show some evidence. It does not impress me
