being called "preggers" or "prego" etc, etc?!? No thank you, it sounds like a little 13 year old piglet who got pregnant and doesn't know who the father is or something....it's just not a great title to be labeled with or called...

Pregnant, expecting, etc are much nicer! Just wondering if anyone else felt the same way!!!

  1. I acutally think it's cute. Most of my friend call me "preggers" and I do not get offended by it. I know it means "pregnant", and that my friends do not mean any harm. I just love how they rub my belly and go "aww, your preggers". Trust me, if your pregnant, the further along in pregnancy you become, the least of your worries that word will be. I have a ton of things to worry about and being called preggers is not one of them. Lighten up, and don't let it get to you. It's just a figure of speech, I'm sure no one really means any harm by it. If it bothers you that much just say "Could you not call me that-it reminds me of pasta sauce!".

    Congrats!

  2. offended? No

    Annoyed? YES!

It just seems like something a high school girl would call it.. to me I either use the PG (for pregnant) if i dont want to type it all out.. but pregnant is what i would like to be called.. or like you said, expecting :)

  3. I'm not offended by it but I can understand what you are saying.  I think most people see it as a nick name or something like that.

What offends me is when people say "you're only 3 months" or "... 4 months" or...  "you look you're about to go into labor"  That seems insulting.

  4. It's cute to say prego...I wouldn't get offended...it's a common word used for pregnant...When I hear of baby daddy...or knocked up I think of a 13 year old child...

  5. I dont mind. My husband and I both say preggers and 'up the duff''.

  6. I hate when people say Prego..reminds me of the speghetti sauce.

    I annoys me.

  7. It doesn't offend me, but it sounds immature to me.

  8. Being called "prego" kind of offends me, but there are more thing that do like people commenting on weight gain. HELLO people there is a child inside of me, of course my belly is going to get bigger!

  9. Yeah i hate it... I hate them because it's like nicknames that people can't say because pregnant or expecting are too long... I dunno.. It's just a pet peeve I have.

  10. I think it's all in the individual. For ME personally it doesn't bug me, just sounds a little immature but I've said it from time to time lately when I've felt lazy.... "knocked up"-now THAT is rude!!!

  11. I totally agree! Especially 'preggers'. I just can't stand it! I've let my opinion be known to all my family and friends so no one calls me either one.

  12. I don't think there's anything more obnoxious than "preggers!"

  13. I agree.. Prego sounds like the spaghetti sauce.. I remember when I was getting fitted for a dress and the lady said "she has a bun in the over" and I looked at her like um no im expecting my first child. I was so mad!! Also, I've only been married for 6 1/2 months and we found out about 4 months ago that I was a month pregnant.. Well my brother in law and his girlfriend came over and she was like so are you excited? Your gonna get so fat! Not that I relaly like her anyways but I looked at her in shock and said um no I'm not going to get fat theres going to be a BABY in there not just me gaining weight for no reason!! And my brother in law said so hows it feel to be knocked up? That really got me going .. 1) I am not KNOCKED UP, it was not a one night stand I am married.. 2) That just sounds horrible like it was a 16 year old boy sleeping with a 13 year old who barley got her period and now is pregnant.. I was so mad!! So dont feel bad.. Been there done that! lol. Just brush them off and correct them. I definitley tell people how I feel when they say stuff like that because that is not what I want to be labled as. "Knocked up and fat" Plus it reminds me of the show Knocked up where she got pregnant from a one night stand.. Sorry this question just hit home!! Good luck with your pregnancy :)

  14. I think it is absolutely ridiculous!  I think it is immature and a young term.  I was a young mom, I had my daughter when I was 21... I heard people use that term... I do not think there is anything cute about any type of slang in regards to pregnancy... It is a serious matter, it should be a blessed and important time in your and your husbands life.  I think by using slang like this is completely demeaning to the event.

  15. Honestly, I could care less. I use the term 'preggers,' sometimes... There is much more I could get worked up over. :)

  16. No it doesn't offend me.

There are many other things I find much more offensive. I try not to dwell on any of them. Just makes me unhappy.

  17. Nope i get it all the time and even refer to myself as being "prego"...just a nickname for "pregnant", i don't see anything offensive about it!!! There's of course a time and place for everything but all in all it doesn't bother me one bit, why should it, they're just words people made up, it doesn't sound good for someone to walk up and say "hey pregnant....or hey expecting!!!!"....so they say "hey prego"....just a little pregnancy humor, maybe your hormones are just raging to the point to where it irritates you!!!

  18. I agree with you. I sometimes use the word preg when typing it out but I hate preggers and preggo! I'm pregnant! Same amount of syllables! But then again a lot of little things bug me and even more so since being pregnant. Like when people comment on how much or how little I am showing. I'm 20 weeks and it totally depends on what I'm wearing how big my belly looks, and I'm sick of trying to come up with lame answers to these comments. Or the people that ask you a question like, "Are you planning on breastfeeding? Getting the epidural? Moving closer to your family? OMG you have a midwife and not a doctor?" and then being full of opinion about it. Worse when they ask my husband and I'm not there to defend my positions. So yep, lots of little complaints but mostly just excited about MY family growing. MINE. Not anyone else's to control. Lol. =) I have a couple times said that I was knocked up but it was as a joke since I've been married a couple years and everyone is just super excited.

  19. It doesn't bother me...but that might be because I have a few aunts that call me "FAT KID". I would rather have prego or preggers!

  20. im not offended by it but it does bother and annoy me.  when people call me prego i think of the sauce which annoys me cuz then i start to think about food like spaghetti and i hate thinking about certain foods cuz then i start to feel sick. and preggers idk i just dont like it its just so annoying cuz i hear it everyday in school.

  21. doesnt offend me i like it better than someone calling me pregnant AND i know who my babies father is so its whatever....i dont sweat the small stuff  plus its no different than someone calling me FAT or GREEDY h**l im pregnant

  22. No one has ever referred to me as being 'preggers' or 'preggo' except maybe online to shorten it out because they're too lazy to actually type the word 'pregnant'. lol But, I agree with one of the above answerers who said something about people commenting on your weight gain. I have strangers all the time asking me if i'm having twins or tell me that i'm 'huge'. It gets annoying after a while but I just try to smile it off and ignore it. Of course I look 'huge' I have a baby inside of me and I have a small petite figure! Don't tell me something I already know..

  23. Nope, it doesn't bother me.

Would you rather hear someone say, "Hey look she's preggo" or "Hey look she got knocked up.?????

  24. Yes it is pretty annoying...not as bad as when a fat middle aged man looks at your belly and says your almost as big as I am.....(yes it actually happened to me) or when people ask when you are due and you say anytime and they reply thank god you are huge!!!

  25. I totally agree. Todays kids are so lazy that they don't even want to spend time spelling out words completely. I quite sad.

  26. whenever someone called me prego i ALWAYS said " ya know i'm not a pasta sauce!" and they NEVER said it again! THANK GOD. i hate it sooooooooooooooooooooo much!

  27. i was always called prego and it made me think they were calling me a speggetti sauce!

  28. I don't get offended that easily. I don't let other people's opinions of me have an effect on me much. I just don't really have time for it.

  29. I don't, I call myself prego all the time.

  30. I hate the word preggers but my baby niece is so excited that i'm pregnant and she calls me preggo and it's just the sweetest thing she is only 3 and every time I hear preggo I think of my baby niece I love it. but I understand what your saying I don't go around say I'm preggo or I'm a preggo, it just sounds dumb.

  31. Sometimes when I'm talking to my friends about my pregnancy and being dorky, I say "pregs", but no-I wouldn't like being called "preggers" or "prego"--and there is a girl who is a friend to one of my friends and she calls me "preggo"--it's very irritating.
