It seems most NZ Europeans have only British ancestory, I was wondering if anyone knew about the Scandanavian immigrants to New Zealand all those years ago and if anyone else has some Scandanavian in them.?

  1. You can use the database at:

    http://www.emiarch.dk/search.php3?l=en

to see the records of people who left Copenhagen headed for New Zealand.  Put "Zealand" in the search box labeled "Country" under "Destination".  Don't include "New" since the Danes spelled that part different ways.  You might also notice some variations on the spelling of "Zealand" while you're looking at the results, so you might try more searches using those variations .

(I don't have any personal involvement with NZ, but my great grandfather left Denmark for the US in 1862, so I've looked into who left Denmark.)

You might also try looking around the site whose home is:

    http://www.norwayheritage.com/

for information about people leaving Norway.  Most of that site seems to be directed at trans-Atlantic crossings, but there might be some mention of New Zealand if you click around.
