Does anyone else have a cat who plays fetch?

We got a kitten a few months ago from our local SPCA. He was really young, i honestly don't think he was eight weeks old, but he is very loving. He started to play with random socks and a toy mouse we bought for our two year old cat, she never plays with it, about a month after we got him. Now, when he wants to play, he will bring over his mouse, a sock, or a little pound puppy cocker spaniel, and drop it near us. We throw it, and he gets it, and brings it back and drops it. He will do this for about a half an hour, and he winds up panting after running around and back. Does anyone else have a cat who plays fetch?

  1. Yes yes. Nabi-my black cat did when she was a kitten. Tomo passed away recently did all the time. He was a chartreux cross. how about yours?

  2. Mine does. He's a little goofball. But I guess thats how you can tell they all have different personalities, and they aren't all the same. =]

  3. Oh yes, my cat is a four legged fetching machine!!! I smoke (no lectures please) and she loves to chase and fetch back crumpled up cig packs. I always get tired way before she does.

  4. Yeah my siamese kitten loves to play fetch with her toy green mouse

  5. My male cat does that. He also "nurses" on pillowcase edges, socks, and various other items. He was found in an alley when he was only a few weeks old and was bottle fed.

He likes me to throw one of his toys down the stairs and he zooms off after them. He runs back up to the landing and drops the toy and waits for me to throw it again. He also went through a phase where he'd get all of his jingle balls together and then push them all over the edge. He did it every night after I got home from work for about a month. I'd pick them all up from the bottom of the stairs before work and then about ten minutes after I got home I'd hear a succession of 'bing, bing, bing, bing, bonk" as he pushed them all down the stairs. it was really cute. I'm not sure why he stopped.

  6. yess,....I love cats .they are so cute

  7. mine does??!!

  8. i think that has always been their behavior as a household animal.

accommodate it you will enjoy them.

  9. My current female cat loves to play fetch with twisty cable ties, and often drops one in my lap to let me know she's ready for a game. Unfortunately, she also thinks that garden cockroaches might make a good fetch toy, but I'd prefer we stick to using cable ties :o)

A previous female used to prefer playing fetch with balls of scrunched up paper, and as soon as you tore the wrapper off a bar of chocolate she was there waiting for me to throw it.

  10. My young ragdoll boy loves playing fetch with his "toy" cable ties. Apparently it's a more common thing in male cats than females.

  11. I wish mine did
