Question:

Does anyone else have a problem with the ECM on their 1990 Suburban?

The engine in my 1990 Suburban runs fine. But on a couple occasions, the engine simply stopped running. A mechanic said there was a short somewhere with the wiring located on top of the engine behind the air filter housing. I literally had to wiggle the wiring around and replace the ECM fuse to get it started again. By wiggling the wiring, the short goes away. Anyone know anything about this?

  1. Sounds like a short in the wiring to the distributor or coil than maybe?

A shorting sensor wouldn't kill it,and i've never heard of one of these PCM's going bad like that.

If you can wiggle and make it work, then you've narrowed it down pretty far already.

Now you just need to know what important wires are going through that harness that will kill the vehicle.

Not many wires can just kill the vehicle.
