Question:

Does anyone else have a similar problem?

I move my bottom jaw back and forth inside of my top jaw (if that makes any sense at all) to count syllables every time I read anything, watch TV, or hear somebody speak. If the sentence does not work out to be an even number of syllables, it really upsets me. I have many symptoms of OCD and am going to a professional in a few weeks. Does anyone else have the same or a similar problem? If so, how do you deal with it?

Thank you so much

  1. yeah... i tap out syllables with my fingers and get mad-ish if it isn't odd, i just tap my fingers all the time to make it seem normal...

  2. lol it sounds like ocd. i have similar symptoms like u believe me lol. i have to even out the words in which i speak or i get so angry. like i try to make them come out to 8 for some reason. or with foot steps, anything haha. i just deal with it though. i wasnt diagnosed with it though, so maybe it wasnt bad enough.

  3. yes, it's OCD and you should go seek help.  I get nervous if anything isn't in an even number like the volume of the radio or anything really.  It is very irrational behavior and is caused by a chemical imbalance of the brain.  It isn't your fault and I deal with it by medication and that has made my life better.
