my daughter began watching little einsteins the summer after she turned 4, and has absolutely loved them ever since...patiently for 3 years now we have waited and waited for them to come out with the birthday supplies...but they never did, she is now turning 7 and we are having her party in our backyard..and renting a bouncy house. she was going to have hannah montana decorations, and cake...but upon looking through the catalog of a birthday supply company we came across....little einstein birthday supplies...and she was heartbroken..she loves them..has the bookbag, and the lunch box, and I bought her a set of the flannel sheets for winter time that have stayed on her bed. she was upset however because she is afraid the kids will make fun of her..as she is afraid it might seem to babyish....what do you think? I've told her not to worry about the kids....and to choose what she wants..its her birthday...but I'm kinda of worried myself.

  1. My eight year old daughter watches it because my 2 year old son does.  She's really in to Hannah Montana, Cheetah Girls...those sort of things.  I think it's a great show....I've actually learned a lot about music and art myself!  :)  I think that it's her birthday and if that's what she would enjoy as her theme-go for it!  They grow up so fast as it is.....

  2. She will be made fun of.  The kids invited are likely to be in the 6-8 yr range most likely, and kids, especially girls at this age can be mean. One will start, tell another, and soon it'll be all over the party.

I'm not trying to paint a pessimistic picture. I've been through this with my kid, she liked Dora, and then some "boy" themes for a while.

If only a few close friends have been invited, it might be OK.

if my kid was in this position, I would go with Hannah Montana. I am always looking for teachable moments on going by one's own choice, not blindly listening to others, thinking for oneself etc.  But, on an occasion like a b'day party, I would play it safe, and not take the chance on my kid being upset.

  3. My daughter is turning 7 next week.   She may watch this program (and even Dora) if nothing else is on.  But, she definitely would not make this her choice of party themes and neither would I for a child this age.  She dontated all her Dora, Backyardigans and all the other Nick Jr. personalities toys, books and etc.  She often says they are for babies. Personally, I also  think it is a bit young but if this is what she wants, go for it but let her know that some kids may say that it is a baby party as kids often speak their minds.

How about a slumber party or a party at Build-A-Bear (if you have one in you area); these are ageless...

  4. Isn't that for preschoolers?  Having been through 2 seven year olds I can tell you that she will be made fun of with little Einstein party supplies.

  5. my soon to be 7 year old little girl does not like them but that is her opinion.  mine likes hannah montana, carebears, and tinkerbell.

but every little girl is different.  try a party place they might be able to order it for you.

  6. I agree to let her choose what she wants.

What day does her bday fall on? is it midweek?

if her actual birthday falls on a weekday, you could get just a few party pieces w/the Little Einsteins for a small family only "cupcakes for dessert" sort of thing ... then do the the big kid thing for her party w/ her classmates.

If a birthday falls during the week, in my family we always do something that night, usually a home made cake, cupcakes, brownie, pie or something sweet to stick a candle in after the birthday person's favorite meal for dinner.

    she could have both!

  7. My daughter is 10 and she loves watching little einstiens with her little brother. I catch her walking around singing the songs. I think your daughter should have whatever kind of party she wants. As far as party supplies if you go to www.birthdayexpress.com they have a whole Little Einsteins party theme. If the kids she invites to her party are truly her friends they will not care what kind of theme she has.

  8. My daughter just turned 7 and she likes Little Einsteins.  She watches with her brother and sister.  We just had her party and she had a Dora theme.  Apparently some of the mother's thought it was odd that she still liked Dora but the girls didn't seem to mind at all.  I feel the Hannah Montana and Cheetah girls are pushing them to grow up too fast.  I say keep her little and get her what she wants.
