  1. HVAC Tech.:  "These are through the wall units" Some have been installed as window units. They are very popular in motel use. very economical to operate. They have a small water pump in them to pick up the condensate and put it on top of the condensation coil where it helps cool the refrigerant. Keep your filter clean and it will serve you well.

  2. I have a A/C that is about 8 years old.  It is not a ArticKing, but it makes that same dripping noise.  I haven't a clue what it is, but it works great and keeps me cool.  The only thing is an A/C draws out the humidity of your house, and you can see the water dripping out the back of the A/C (out doors) so it sure could be that. I sure haven't answered your question, but I don't think you have much to worry about. Just an annoying sound!!!!!

  3. This is a window a/c unit, right?  You shouldn't hear a 'dripping sound' inside the room that the unit is working in.  To me, that would indicate that the unit doesn't have a proper 'tilt' towards the back end, so as to keep the collected water condensate from the cooling coils draining properly to the outside.
