Does anyone else have babies that eat until they throw up?

I have a 11 wk old and he will eat until he throws up. I'm not talking about a little spit up. I mean it is a ton. He does this every time he eats. I nurse him so i have to watch the clock and stop nursing him 30-45 mins or he will keep eating until he gets sick. Also he wants to eat every 30 mins. What should i do to keep him from doing this without refusing to feed him.

It could be reflux.  Check with your doctor as he shouldn't be sick each time he nurses.

If he throws up significantly at every feeding and it's projectile vomiting, it could be pyloric stenosis.  If it's not coming up forcefully all the time it could be acid reflux.  My daughter projectile vomits 2x per day but my doctor says it's ok and we won't treat her or test further because she isn't dehydrated and is gaining 8 oz a week.  Either way I would mention it to your doctor - breastfed babies don't eat until they throw up.

I have found that offering shorter more frequent feedings eases the problem we have.

my first did this but only when she strated eating solids. I would call the ped

i was the same when i was a baby and my mum was so worried she brought me to the doctor. they weighed me before and after each feed and the conclusion was too much breastmilk! she just had to stop me from eating too much. my son would nurse every hour at one stage and it was just a habit. i tried to entertain him and distract as much as i could (or even better - get someone else to do it for you) and just stretch it longer and in a couple of days your son will be used to eating less often but probably a little more each time instead.
