I have been using AOL as my primary email account for the past 10 years but recently it seems like my account has been hacked into. In my spam folder i find emails that appear to have already been read that i know for certain i never opened. i changed my password 3 times because of this and I just changed it again not too long ago and it's happening again. I was wondering if anyone else is having this problem or if there is any way for me to prevent it?

  1. Do yourself a favor and get rid of AOL.

    Complete waste of money.

Back in the day when I did have it, I felt completely safe with it.

Try downloading some spyware scanners like Lavasoft.  Do a couple scans plus virus scans and see if anything pos up.

Also, are you sharing your info with a significant other/children??  Might have some explanation to that..

  2. AOL supports homosexuals, and next to that -- Yahoo sells your e-mail address (proof? create a new e-mail account and just watch the SPAM box grow without your influence). Google (GMail) does not though, and they are probably better than Hotmail too. :)

EDIT :: And just to clarify the bad things about AOL, they also have unrealistically strict policies of who you can receive e-mail from. And yes, I do mean -unrealistically strict-.

  3. I would suggest getting a different email service Hotmail and Gmail are pretty good at preventing spam.

  4. i am with aol and have been for 3 years and have never had one bit of bother with them, there is nothing wrong with them, at least i dont think so

  5. I don't feel safe in the Windows OS at all!
