  1. Yes my son whom is six is going to be starting this year.  He is diagnosed with a mood disorder.  He has been having anxiety attacks because he said he is scared to go to kindergarten.  We could have sent him last year, but decided to wait so he could gain some more social skills in preschool.  I am glad that we waited.  Now I wonder what the year will bring for him and how he will react to being in Kindergarten.  I wonder how the school will deal with his behavior issues.  It still seemslike yesterday when he was just my baby.  Now this is a step towards him being a big boy.  Our kindergarten is all full day for free without an option of half day... only full day.  It will be a lond day for him because he still takes naps in the day.

  2. Yes, in a couple weeks. He's going from 8am to 3pm. That's a long day for a 5yr old! I hope he enjoys it. Good luck too!

  3. My son is going to pre-k. I feel super old =(....

  4. Don't be nervous. Remind them of manners and being nice. It's the start of your child's social life basically. They can be anyone.

  5. Yes! I was excited a few weeks ago but now that it's getting closer I'm terrified, to be honest. I just went to his "forms & fees" day today and I put money in his lunch account... they told me he had to memorize his ID number and enter it in a keypad to pay for his lunch- what?? My son will not get that at all. Little things like that are scaring the c**p out of me. I feel like he's going to be so lost in the shuffle and I'm afraid no one will help him. I'd be less nervous if he was going to half-day Kindergarten but it's full days here. And I can completely relate to dueinOctober- my son is on the autism spectrum and has some sensory issues- he doesn't adjust to new situations easily. I can just feel the meltdowns coming while he's there and I don't know who will help him. Ok, I'm going to go cry again now... MY BABY!!!

  6. My son just turned 6 and starts in 3 wks from today and i am so nervous.  He has anxiety issues and was diagnosed with PDD and so that just makes me more nervous but I know he will be ok, it will just take some time to adjust.  I have seen his school and met a couple of the teachers and the principal but that didn't help make me any less nervous about my son going to school.  He is growing up way to fast for me lol.  He will be going to school just down the road from me from 9-3 five days a week which will be new for me because where I was living all the kids were only half day kindergarten.

  7. My second child is going to pre-k and I'm nervous for her, I hope she does okay, she can be stubborn when it comes to doing things.

My oldest is going into 3rd, I'm nervous for him because we just moved to a new city and he doesn't know anyone.

But I know everything will be fine.

  8. I'm excited and nervous as well.

We only have half-day kindergarten around here, so it's not like the time he spends at school will be that much different from when he was in pre-K last year.  But there is something about walking my baby to school for his first day of kindergarten that gets me choked up.  It seems like he was a baby just yesterday!

He'll only be gone from 8:40 to 11:15, but something about the idea of him going to "real" school makes me kind of sad in a way.  But I am excited for him, too.  I think he is going to love it.

  9. im sorry but you will cry all moms will its growing up i remember my mom cried and i will too. but you will be happy too.
