Does anyone else have this bad of prescription?

i have pretty bad eyes (inherited from my mother...grrrr) my contact prescription is like minus 10.

how do i know what my vision is? as far as the 20/20 ratio?

is laser eye surgery even an option for me?

If you want Lasik, you should do a consultation and find out if you are a candidate.  I had it done 2 weeks ago but I was only -6.5  They may tell you that they can get your vision better but maybe not perfect in which case you would have to decide if you think that is worth it for you.

i dunno, lol, but when i was 7 i had really strong glasses, but by the time a was ten, i could see fine without them. im 16 know, amd i have great vision. laser surgery isnt worth it, they peel stuff of of ur eye (EWW)

what your looking for  is your v/a (visual acuity) both aided and unaided your contact lens prescription isn't enough really to go on as you haven't said what type of contacts they are (torics,spherical) but according to the prescription it's pretty strong.

you should ask your optometrist about the v/a'a either way/

make sure you get a pair of specs made up aswell to give your eyes a break even now and again over wearing contacts is a definite no no

there are lenses on the market at the moment for specs that are really good 1.7 1.74 index's ultra thin lenses.

you also seem like a good candidate for lazer treatment but again your optometrist will advise you about that if you ask them

if you would like an acurrate answer to you vision ration you should visit your eye doctor

and for laser eye surgery you should ask you eye doctor also

My husband wears very strong prescription glasses or contacts.  A few years ago he was talking to his optometrist, who said he personally wouldn't consider laser eye surgery until there have been years more history available on the long-term results - and he didn't recommend it to any of his patients.
