Does anyone else here find hipsters pathetic?

I'm a huge rock fan and I honestly think hipsters along with the media have really ruined rock in this city. It's really getting on my nerves. Does anyone here have any ideas for helping that scene dry up? I was thinking promoting art and music outside of Union Square and Williamsburg

ALSO: if you're a tourist please don't come here to egg these people on! ok? please... don't come here just to go to fake art parties and dive bars in the village, midtown, and Williamsburg. Every boro has a great music scene. Stop coming here to act like hipsters and treat them like they're the definition of cool, you're just making it worse.

  1. While I agree with some of Lex's opinions, I don't think  hard rocks in red caps, bandanas (bloods) walking around in packs is "fly" or even part of PR's cutlure in Williamsburgh.

As far as some of the neighborhoods taken over, I have to say many look a lot better than what they used to look like back in the 80s, even 90s.

Hipsters aren't the reason rents are going up in these hoods, many cant afford but to live with mad roomates themselves.

NYC has always been a melting pot of different cultures, races etc. I mean how long do you think these hoods will continue to have cheap rents, run down buildings for? **** has to change for the better but unfortunately since the bush administration, **** has only gotten better for the rich. Lower class and even middle class are getting their lives sucked away.

To blame it all on hipsters is just selfish...NYC is and always will be a melting pot. Its up to us, the real New Yorkers to move ahead and keep pushing.. only the strong survive.

These cats who be fakin the funk about hiphop and disco aint fooling anyone. They can be takin' down easy by New Yorkers.

  2. Don't bring up Bush. What the h**l does Bush have do with anything? Williamsburg was gentrified in the 90s. It is the d**n hipsters fault. They are the MAIN reason the rents go up. They completely alter neighborhoods and once the rent gets a little high, they move somewhere else, creating the same cycle once again

  3. I 1000000000% agree, except in this case my beef is what they did to Hip Hop, and also what they did to the neighborhood of Williamsburg in the first place. It used to be the flyest Puerto Rican neighborhood, with lots of culture and history, generations of stories about the past and where we caribbean people came from, and today they pretty much drove all the original folks out

As for hip hop...as of late they have been takin up parts of old school hip hop and claiming it as their own. All of a sudden EVERY one of these f*cks is a DJ, and the worst part is that these metrosexual muthafuckaz are overshadowing real talent and ignoring the true roots of hip hop, instead parading it as some trend. We been at this for 30 years and they undermining everythin we worked towards and all the innovations of OTHER MC's

Bottom line, hipsters need to go. Make your own f*ckin subculture instead of stealin everybody elses. AND GET OUT OF NEW YORK, WE DONT LIKE YOU!
