Does anyone else keep getting prompted for a new device password on the Blackberry Curve 8310?

Every time I enable password protection on my Blackberry 8310, the phone always prompts me for a new password instead of retaining the old one. I'm pretty sure it's not supposed to be doing this and I can't figure out how to fix it. Also, there's no option for manually changing the password like the in-phone help application suggests there is. Any ideas?

It sounds like maybe the password is not being saved.  When it prompts you for a new password, will it not accept the old one?

You can manually change the password by going from the home screen to Option, Security Options, General Settings.  Press the menu button and scroll to 'change password' and click.

no  i never enabled  that  i  dont let my berry  out of my sight  so no need for  that
