All of my friends make fun of me cuz I like their food.

I even like their little store out front.

Am I the only person who likes this place? Ok - I know there are other customers in the store - but does anyone on line like it?

  10. dude i once got the stomach flu after going to a cracker barrel that place is nasty

  11. Cracker Barrel is good. I like their chicken pot pies. I's sure the behavior of the people who work in their kitchens vary from place to place. I'm sure all cracker barrels don't have dirty nasty people working in the back, who do all kinds of unethical things. I have to say, I have worked at four star restaraunts like "Commanders Palace" and Omni Hotels where un ethical kitchen practices went on. Expect it. Don't think about it. If you really want to be safe don't eat out. Cracker Barrel is homey with good old home cookin'. I also like their chicken fried steak!

  12. I've had breakfast there. It's on rare occasions because there isn't one in my area but I enjoyed the breakfast that I had there.

  24. no, plus they are prejudiced, i went there and there were some african-americans sitting next to us and they didnt get served at all, its sad that people are still rude to others just because of their skin color

  25. like their food and like their store

  26. I love it. We could go for breakfast sometime.

  27. I love cracker barrel food. age 25

  28. I don't mean to be ugly, really, but I like to see people make informed decisions. I was the back-up cook in two different Cracker Barrel restaurants for almost five years (Virginia and then South Carolina). If any of you had any idea what went on in the kitchens of those restaurants you wouldn't set foot in that place with the intention of eating. I ate what I cooked....and that was ALL I ate in a Cracker Barrel after working in one for a week.

Flour for their superb biscuits is stored open and adjacent to a high traffic area. Open trash barrels sit inches from the table where your biscuits and cornbread are prepared with trash topping the cans by a foot.

The tops of steam cookers are removed to gain access to the pots and sometimes I have literally watched them be sat on top of a convection oven that NEVER has the top cleaned or on the floor in a pinch.

The cornbread and biscuit pans ARE NOT washed "because it will eat the coating off of the $75.00 pans." Cornbread pans sit on shelves, uncovered, all night long and until the next mornings shift comes in.

Daily specials are prepared the day before they're cooked if you're a superbly efficient cook and they are routinely sat in the freezer, open all afternoon and all night long.

The hotbox..where your prepared foods are stored until they're put on the prep line? There would be days that I'd take stainless steel containers out of that box that had been there for a week and no one bothered to remove them.

Your prized macaroni and cheese is not original to Cracker Barrel. Every ingredient in it is available at your local super market.

I once watched a manager drop a frozen chicken fried steak on the floor and actually pick it up and put it back in the freezer. I witnessed more than one grill cook pick up chicken tenders off of the floor and put them on a plate siting the "three second rule." That means, if it's not on the floor for more than three seconds you can put it back on the plate. No, I never once stood there and allowed it to happen. I would have lost my job before I allowed that food to be served. I loved my job. I wanted the bullsh*t to stop.

I reported this c**p to superiors beyond the store so many times it's a wonder I didn't get fired for it. Did they every do anything...no.

Steaks are flattened with an iron to make them cook faster..it makes no difference that this also dries them out badly.

Your cooked to order food is cooked on a grill that is cleaned once a day...at closing. Everything..all day...that hits that grill also hits YOUR food.

Waitresses perch, bent over plates of food with no hair nets on and hair down to their butts. Sometimes while they wait they clean their ears with their fingernails. Yummy.

Most of the time the dishwashers are of such poor quality that the grill cook has to scrape food off of "clean" plates with a knife before he can put YOUR food on that plate. Once in a while you get a real treat and lift a clean plate that has a tomato slice or a pickle stuck to it.

A lot of you won't believe me. That's because CB has this pristine Mom & Pop reputation. The days of Mom & Pop are over my friends. Go to work in one for 72 hours and you'll believe every word I say.

Check this out. The manager of the store I worked in South Carolina? He had narcolepsy. He'd just go to sleep at any given time. While I worked there he once wrapped his truck around a tree..yeah..he just took a nap behind the wheel. He routinely fell out at store meetings. He also had some weird skin disorder that I later found out was contagious...and he handled people's food!!!

I wasn't fired and I tried my best to be part of the solution and to change things. Home office claimed that you could report violations anonymously. I even supplied them with pictures of food in the freezer with no tops and trash piled up next to the bread tables. The first thing they did....they told my manager whom I didn't get along with anyway.

That place is a joke...a sick one. I used to love CB. SInce I worked in one I wouldn't dare. If you're smart, you won't either.
