Question:

Does anyone else mostly ovulate from one side?

I get ovulation pain (mittelschmerz) every month and it's almost always on my right side. Does this happen to anyone else? I'm pleased that I always know when I'm ovulating, but I just want to make sure "Mrs. Lefty" is still fully functional as well.

I'm thinking that I either have one "better" or more favored ovary or there's just something about the anatomy on my right side that causes the pain to only happen there. Maybe when my right goes, there's less space in my peritoneal cavity for the stuff to diffuse? Not sure.

I'm not TTC yet, but I want both ladies working when I'm ready! Thanks for any experiences.

  1. I have always felt extreme pain in my left ovary during ovulation... I have been to several doctors and asked the question over and over... WHY?! Every Doctor has told me the same thing it's normal. Most woman don't know when they are ovulating so it isn't easy to compare. I am pregnant so every thing will be fine :)

  2. Hey i mostly ovulate from my left ovary and to my suprise the last time i ovulated was from my right so i had a giggle that this buba is from the righty cause all my others have been from the lefty !!!

  3. Actually, I watch a lot of documentaries and medical shows, and just the other day a doctor on one was talking about how your ovaries never ovulate in a predicitable pattern for the most part, meaning you may feel ovulation pain in one ovary but it's the other that will ovulate sometimes. I get it every other month on my left side, not my right, lol. So I thought it was interesting to know that it just depends on which ovary has an egg ready for release first, not where you feel the cramps. Ovulation may even occur a few days after or before, but it's usually within the time frame enough that OPK kits help you get pregnant. Good luck!

  4. I get the pain only on my right side too.

I do know that ovulation side is random and that the pain doesn't def. mean that's the side you are ovulating from.

I drove my gyno crazy till she actually explained it all to me.

So you should be o.k. with 2 functioning sides.

  5. It shouldnt really matter coz if both sides ovulated at once you'd have twins on your hands!!! (Non identical) So its probably pretty common

  6. Every month its pretty much luck of the draw,, just because its seems that your right ovary is beating lefty to the punch.. does not mean that lefty isnt up to snuff. Good luck to you !
