okay, I'm 14 and I love decorating. Almost every room in my house is painted. kitchen, bathrooms, and my sister and i's bedrooms. what isn't painted is our open concept dining room/living room. They are white and I do not like white walls. They just seem so.. blah. The white walls run all the way up to the upstairs of our house.

To me, white walls are boring, and painted walls are warm and inviting. Does anyone else think this?

She does not want them painted, (even if she doesn't have to do it) I have been begging her for so long. Can someone please say something to convince me that they aren't that bad? or something to make her go for it!

Something about white just screams out.. plain, boring, and hospital. Help!! haha

  1. the only time i like white walls is in the bathroom. every other room, colors puhlease

  2. I don't think white walls are really all that bad, especially if the rest of the decor in the room is nice.  Well-placed furniture and unique decorative accessories can really make a difference in a space.  I don't want to sound rude, but you are a 14 year old kid living in her parent's home. I don't think it is your place to be giving your parents decorating advice.  It is their home and they should be free to do as they please with it without hearing their daughter gripe about it.  When you grow up and get your own place you can paint every single wall in your home, but for now, I think your parents would appreciate it if you would mind your own beezwax with THEIR house.

  3. Boring is right!

it has no personality and it seems like the home is not cared for or could be seen of a reflection of the homeowners being LAZY

  4. get one or two theme colors to run through the area,

i.e. royal blue, and a burnt orange, that way you can play off those colours, and not the wall

  5. I agree with you 100%!  I recently got a modular home that comes with stock, stark white walls.  The first thing I did was go to the hardware store and buy paint.  The reasons that I did it may be different from yours, but it all comes down to personal preference.  The reason I painted them is because I was getting a modular home and didn't like the "cookie-cutter" feel of them to begin with. And the words plain, boring, cold, uninviting, and sterile came to mind. So I HAD to change it.  I hope this helps!
