  1. Unfortunately, the current "green living" idea may be more of a fad than a real long-term trend.

The idea of global warming has been around for a long time, and in fact the IPCC (International Panel on Climate Change) was formed back in '88.  Public awareness increased a lot when Al Gore made his movie.  Rising gas prices also have done a lot to promote hybrids and other alternative fuel vehicles.

I certainly hope most people continue to take an interest in sustainable living for years to come.

  2. It's an election year, which means buzzwords, and green is this years buzzword.

I eat green..........I eat cows that produce methane gas, medium well, with potatoes and a cold frosty beer.

  3. exactly i ttly agree idk y were just now starting its like with AIDS we disscovered it 20 sumtin yrs ago and now 20 sumtin yrs later we know just about as much as we did then about it and were just now starting to try doing sumtin for it

  4. My thoughts are it is better that we are all starting to become aware now---then never.

  5. There has been a lot of tlk about global warming so now they have to go overboard and make everything better becuz as a while ago there core was only 2 dimes thick duh

  6. Businesses are going green to get you to buy their goods. They have jumped on the band wagon. Just like the car salesmen are offering free gas with a car purchase. It's called MARKETING and probably has very little about saving the earth.

Also, it's correct to go green now, especially with the plastic bags at the grocery store. Use paper or buy you own grocery bags. Have a nice Sunday!

  7. Well, we were all stupid back then & had no idea about these things. Just like people were when the cigarette came out, they thought it was good for you- now we know that it can kill you.

Science has improved greatly in the last five years. (That was back before things like ipods & stuff, so it was a long time ago for the technology part of the world.)

  8. I believe most of what you hear is marketing not true environmentalism. We are at a tipping point where there is enough information out there that what we are doing is causing harm to the environment and people want to make better choices, so they can feel better about themselves.

Going Green is the latest it thing for Celebs and companies. I just hope it holds on long enough to get some serious changes made. Many people do want to feel that they aren't doing harm, so they make a few changes. I believe for some these can be the beginning of real change.

As people become aware of how many harmful chemicals are in our cleaners they try to make better choices. Unfortunately cleaning companies don't want to lose market share, so instead of making the products safe, they change to recycled plastic for their bottles or add a few solar panels to their manufacturing plants and spend money on commercials touting their "greenness".

Celebs need exposure, their agents and managers help them build their image and going green is the latest "it" thing. Some do actually care and are making real commitments, but many just want to be seen as a good person who cares.

I believe we will create more meaningful change in the way things are manufactured by how we spend our money than how we vote. We can ask congress to pass laws etc, but we need to hit companies where they feel it, there market share.

While shopping for recycled school supplies, I noticed several non recycled products with labeling that gave the impression of being recycled. There is one company that has a little logo that looks much like the chasing arrows with 100% in the center, but when you read close it says customer satisfaction, not recycled content.

Be aware and try not to be fooled by packaging.

  9. because there were loads of conspiricies about Global Warming, now they have two problems CO2, and Cosmic Rays. Du'h

  10. I think what did it in my opinion and for me is Al Gore producing an Emmy documentary "An Inconvenient Truth", and Hollywood responded by producing few blockbuster movies (like Day after tomorrow), information was the key to get where we are right now. People now watch more Discovery, National Geographic channels more then ever, it is so popular that a new channel got lanunched this year "Green Channel".  All the sudden thinking green got "Hipp" and Celebrities/Hollywood will say whatever it takes to go mainstream and get a bigger puplic for their benefit! People have the power to change not only Celebrities, but multi billion dollar companies, if you tell them they will do backflips, as long as they have profit.  I think we are in the right direction, kinda late, but now is better then never.  We need to do more, buy more fuel efficient cars, I think higher gas prices (and believe me it is a cruch that my finances feel it) is a great thing, I see too many jackasses still driving huge SUVs, gas guzzling cars , they are the ones that are stealing from my wallet, more then gas companies!

  11. Since there is a hole in the ozone layer they do have to worry about ultra violet rays I mean it will repair but still u have to worry about this kind of stuff too. And also we are recycling as MUCH as we can because when we run out of trees we will die because we can't breath because we used so much paper. I mean I don't get it either. But I like it too because people are litering and throwing garbage in the lake and it's NOT RIGHT. I f we STOP NOW we could save our healthy OR not so healthy enviorment. I also like it because GREEN is MY favorite color.

  12. There has to be something that industry or retail is doing to give the appearance that they care

    .. . ..

When deep down all they care about is one thing

    .. .. ..

    And it is green too

    .. .. ..
