Question:

Does anyone else panic when in a mummy sleeping bag?

I went camping recently and was trying to use a mummy sleeping bag. I was laying there, zipped myself all the way in, and started to panic. Lol. I freaked out and was a little to eager to get out, as i unzipped the bag, I stuck my arm out the head hole, and the zipper got stuck with my arm out. LOL. I almost started yelling, but I knew my brothers would make fun of me. I eventually got out. Anyone else freak out in those death traps?

  1. I don't panic but I do get very uncomfortable because I tend to be a restless sleeper and there is no room to move in a mummy bag.  I find myself waking up with cramps in my legs because I can't move.

  2. I don't freak out like that, but I don't use a full mummy bag. I suggest you get a partial mummy bag. It has the same shape but has flap for under your head. If you can't find one, just don't pull the drawstrings on the regular mummy bag. If you get cold, put on a stocking cap.

  3. no.  i stay warm though.

  4. I've heard of that problem happening to some people which is why "they" sell mummy bags in large sizes and 100% synthetic rectangular sleeping bags, while other people also make their own lightweight sleeping quilts, which are more like blankets. It's not uncommon and there's no reason to quit backpacking or camping in the cold wastes over it.

  5. no

  6. Nope

  7. id panic in any sleeping bag

..id panic while camping because of bugs period

dont u dare care a single second if others are going to laugh

they're lame at life for not understanding P:

  8. You need to have your head out of a sleeping bad to aviod breathing in your own carbon di oxide and using up your oxygen.

  9. I've gone camping with them for about 3 years, and yes - the first few times I did a HUGE freak out. BUT they also really helped us in extreme weather.

  10. hahahahahaha... just get a regular sleeping bag, is it that cold that you need to zip yourself all the way in?!

  11. Yes, I do.  Some come with a zipper that can be opened at the bottom, so I have left the bottom open to be able to stick my feet out.

But since sleeping bags are very warm once they've trapped in body-heat, and the tent can get pretty warm itself, I usually just end up unzipping the bag entirely and using it as a blanket.

At home I have a water bed, and I am unable to use waterbed sheets because I can't stick my feet out.  Yes, I guess it is a kind of claustrophobia - I have trouble with socks for the same reason.  But I figure as long as my little problem isn't affecting anyone else but myself, and I can find ways of dealing with it, why should anyone care?

  12. No but you must be claustrophobic

  13. Hahahaha yes!

I get super duper hot in those mugs.

A couple of weeks ago at a camp I was in one and I couldn't stay still!

The next day one of the people who was with me that night was like Gosh, I thought you were having epileptic attacks last night! Haha [[:

  14. omg i absolutly hate those things!!!

  15. no that doesn't bother me.

  16. i love them, best sleepin bags ever
