Question:

Does anyone else see Palin?

as I do. Serious question that I would love to see other views on. It appears to me that she was selected, for one reason, to get the vote of women. I find it insulting that anyone would think a woman is going to vote for her for that reason alone. The first time I saw her with her hair up and dressed nicely I was impressed. Last night with her hair down and the way she was dressed made her look dowdy, or, no threat to women voters by not looking as good as she could. Yes, I am for Obama but I'm trying to be objective and I'm having an issue with her. I'm just wondering if anyone is seeing what I am and feeling the same way. Please, no snide answers. If we didn't have two parties there would be no elections. Thanks in advance for your thoughts.

  1. I'm not comfortable with a commander in chief with four minor children and two of them in crisis.  Even though Palin a tool,  and if McCain gets elected Palin job would be done.  But if is old @ss tips over,  God help us.

  2. So you present this sexist c**p and you don't want any snide answers??

Because she looks good, she can't possibly have anything real to offer?? Unlike Obama??

Thank God you're not old enough to vote!

  3. I see her as sarcastic. Period !

  4. I'm not sure what your objecting to. Is it the way she is dressed that was objectionable to you? the way her hair was?

I like to think in the weeks to come we'll see she was picked for her politics and her Republican ways.

We'll see if that plays out.

  5. "...having an issue with her....There are issues with her...

    plenty!

  6. I also see her being used as a pawn just to get the Hilary voters.  I think Palin is a religious extremist.  I was watching last night hoping for some talk about her stand on the important issues, but alas, nothing.  Just attacks on Obama, which I was hoping she would rise above and NOT do.

I found it interesting how she was shrinking away from McCain wanting to put his arm around her. She wants to be treated as one of the boys....but she's not, she's a female and a 72 yr. old male running mate is always going to see her as female first, a way to get votes. I don't think the country, in general, is that uneducated that they would vote for her based on gender alone.

I'm looking forward to the debates to see how she holds herself when the issues will actually NEED to be addressed.

  7. I think she did fabulous!

  8. Well I feel republicans think we are stupid lets nominate a woman and the women will come (NOT) She does not appeal to me!!

  9. Geez, the bulk of you question deals with her appearance. Real good reasoning.

She's a mom of 5, married to the same man, her hi-school sweetheart, an NRA member, a beauty pageant winner (OK-runnerup), pro-life, has a son in the army in Iraq, got into politics to clean it up for her family, neighbors & country and has succeeded, has the highest approval rating of any US governor & you can say with a straight face, she was chosen only to appeal to women?

    You gotta rethink your position.

  10. It was for the Republican Base not the womens vote.  No offense no snide answer but getting the womens vote had little to do with her nomination.

That said are there a "few" soccer \ hockey moms that might have been on Hillary or Obama's side coming over - sure - but that number is small.

The Republican base is fired up for having a Christian, right wing, outsider on the ticket.

  11. At first, I thought this was all a ploy to get Hillary voters on his side (read: women). Then I heard about her stance on issues and it's one of two things:

    1. Either they seriously miscalculated us women as a whole and thought we'd vote for anything as long as it could talk and had a v****a. Because, Palin is NOTHING like Clinton. And while I admire Palin on a few issues (guns and a few other), I completely think she misses the mark of many issues that are important to women and Hillary supporters especially (right to choose, health care) and those are the issues that are the most important to me personally.

    2. They needed an actual conservative to rally the base and maybe reach out to rural voters and boy is Palin ever conservative. Like neo-con conservative. At first glance she seems like a win/win. They'll rally the base and get some of the women who are mindless drones. And ultimately, I think that's why they did this. However, I do believe this will not end well for them.

  12. I'm sorry you say you are being objective..Obama came to Iraq and never told us that it was working..he has no Idea how to lead.. but you go ahead and vote for Mr. Hussian Obama.

  13. Palin rocks and so does McCain.

She was selected for her competence and she appeared completely attracted last night. Sensible women and men will be drawn to supporting her and John.

Sarah is more qualified to be PRESIDENT than the community organizer liberal, Barack Hussein Obama.

  14. As for her speech she gave last night at the Democratic Convention. It sounded like President Bush was speaking. Same old c**p, different voice. She did not impress me. I think the Democrats made a wrong decision. I guess we will see here in a few months.

  15. Believe me everyone sees it...

  16. there are more than two parties but anyways she did look a little dumpy. when i first saw her she look hot. but last night..,egh...notta so much. still going to vote for mccain/palin

  17. She was picked to get the focus away from the issues and on her

  18. I think her gender had a lot to do with why she was chosen.  Her appeal to the Republican right wing base had a lot to do with it too.  I personally would love to vote for a woman; but, she is on the wrong side of every issue that I, as a woman, consider important.  I am voting Obama/Biden.

  19. If you do not want snide answers I suggest you do not ask snide questions.  Sooner or later, no matter how blinded people may be by Obama's persona, you will have to realize that any criticism you make against either McCain or Palin will only make Obama look worse.  For instance, your question suggests Palin being selected only because she is a woman despite the fact that she is more qualified than either Obama or Hillary.  Obviously, Obama was only selected because he is Black and Hillary because she is female.

For you to ignore the fact that she has been in elected office for 15 years, has been a Mayor and a Governor and only see her gender is not being very objective.  She as accomplished much in a relatively short time as Governor.  What has Obama ever accomplished?  Yet other than race, what recommends Obama?  Remember, he was selected from a field of far more qualified candidates.

  20. Well we have 1 side that talks about "hope and change"..very vague then we have the other who went out and got a VERY popular governor. One talks about this BIG HUGE dramatic CHANGE! Thing is he has 130 "present votes" and his legislation is not well known. HE is known for speeches but not his work. The other side brought in a reformer who made it on a few national tv news shows about the positives of her reform in the state she governs. She has an 80% approval rate and all that do not like her are the corrupt people in that government or a former democratic governor that she already defeated.

Now back to the "hope and change" guy..how are you about hope and change when in fact your VP has been in office for a small little state like Delaware since before 1976? Where is this change?  What does Delaware have that compares to Alaska as far as important resources?

  21. As a woman --she will not get my vote--

    Ok, So far

-a 4 month old with special needs

-a 17 year old daughter pregnant---

To me it says something about her, that amid her family obligations, her family falls 2nd to her career aspirations.

  22. McCain chose Palin cause he sees a lot of him in her. So while she underlines his strengths, she does not cover the weaknesses that he has.

He chose the wrong running mate.

Nothing to do with the gender.
