  1. A backbuilding small scale MCS (a big thunderstorm complex) caused a cloud to ground lightning strike in Chicago while I was on a CTA train. The lightning struck 300 feet away from me near the Dan Ryan expressway (where the train goes along) at 2:14 p.m.

Thank God it did not hurt but the clap that resulted from the stroke was very deafening.....

I am not from Indiana but this gave me a scare...........

  2. If you can see that lightning you should be taking cover right about now.  I am watching the radar from pittsburgh, pa and You are in a PDS watch.  This is a very dangerous situation.  PDS means...

IT looks pretty bad on the radar. The NWS(national weather service) in the chicago area has found a storm that is capable, and most likely will, produce multiple F2+tornadoes. I am not quite sure where you are, but the most dangerous parts of the storm are now west of downtown chicago and is located near Plymouth and south bend(indiana). If you are in those areas, you need to take cover immediately. Check these links when safe and update every 5 min. or so.<>>http://www.crh.noaa.gov/iwx/> <>http://radar.weather.gov/radar.php?rid=i... click on the red area of the map that has watches and warnings. Hope this helps

(and to answers your real question, no, i don't see the lightning ;-)
