Maybe I'm wrong, but this is what I think I've noticed. South Ossetia tried to break away from Georgia, like Nationalist Spain breaking off of Republican Spain during the 1930s. When Georgia tried to reclaim their territory, Russia intervened on behalf of the separatists, like Germany aiding the Spanish nationalists.
Do you think this is a legitimate comparison? Do you think we're on the same road (i.e. this will lead to a bigger war?) Can we learn from the mistakes of the past?
