Does anyone else think it's unfair that Geelong doesn't get a home finals match?

Fair enough, the MCG does hold almost 4 times Skilled Stadium's capacity.... But it does seem somewhat unfair to all the Catters fans after a remarkable year.

  1. they get to play at the last of the suburban grounds for all home games, and just like the doggies v cats game, 23,000 cats fans, 1,500 dogs fans. hows that fair. i was at the game last week when they flogged the eagles, if anyone reakons the umpires don't get swayed by the crowd, their kidding themselves.

  2. yeah it is unfair since they have played such a good year! they should be rewarded by playing at home

  3. $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$

  4. It shouldnt matter

Geelong would beat any team at any location

And saints just arent good enough

  5. "Home" doesn't mean home in the case of Geelong. It means "home state", in the biggest venue possible. Money, Money, Money, It's a Rich Man's World.

  6. No. They have a far greater home ground advantage than all of the other Victorian and some interstate clubs over the rest of the season, which is probably a big part of the reason why they are where they are!

  7. awww.. it said 0 answers when I clicked on it...

well that above answer is right.. it's about the money

...and also, believe it or not, about the fans as well... there would be A LOT of dissappointed fans if only 25,000 tickets were sold as opposed to 75,000+

Geelong will have an advantage, however, if the conditions are wet and/or windy because StKilda are too used to the Telstra Dome and the 'perfect' conditions there.

Anyways, it doesn't really matter all that much because Geelong have been the best team for the past 2 seasons now and usually win no matter where they play!

    Well.. Go StKilda!! :D

  8. Skilled doesn't have a dedicated makeup room for when Sydney play Geelong.

Of course no home final for the Cats!

    LOL

  9. Unfair to all the Cats fans. So it would be fair to have a final at a ground that only holds 20,000 people?? Where is you logic in that? So geelong fans have to drive or catch a train 100 odd km to watch their team play, big deal. It would be stupid to have a final at Skilled.

PS sorry for the rant : )

  10. I answered a similar question the other day.

Until Kardinia Park gets 55,000 or more seats and lights for game conditions, never.

    The MCG is OK.

  11. nope, not unfair, playing the GF at the MCG has been a century old tradition which should not be changed just to accomodate geelong or any team for that matter.

I'm sure the Cats would be happy to play in front of a 100,000 + crowd at the G instead of half that at Skilled Stadium!!

  12. As long as Geelong get all the gate takings.

  13. Bottom line is the AFL is all about making money - even the draw is set that way, sucks with no advantage at the cattery - on the plus though alot more supporters will get to watch the game at the MCG.

  14. who cares, its geelong. i doubt they care where they play
