I for one one wish Food and Gasoline prices would get higher because people would drive less (better for the enviroment) and with higher food prices people would eat less(so many americans are grossly overweight).

Today there are so many vehicles on the roads it's not good for our precious enviroment,it's not safe for people that are walking or riding a bicycle with the many accidents that happen worldwide.People should use public transportation more (Buses and trains) or use a bicycle to get to work,or walk there if possible,it's better for our fragile earth and good excersie too.

With prices for food as high as they are people should consider eating only one meal a day,it's all you need, you'll also save money too.Other ways to save money are not having children, stop taking vacations, get rid of your cell phone.Go to the library more.Enjoy life more.Who agrees with all this?

  1. God you p**s me of with this question, you want prices to get higher? I bet your bloody loaded then if you say that, a ticket on my bus now costs £1.50, it's a bloody rip off, I remember the times where it was 70p. Also how exactly are people supposed to use trains and buses when the prices are so high?

Your just one of them people who have been brainwashed by all this go green bullshit by the government, why the h**l should I have to suffer from rip off prices when im not doing anything wrong? the government is the one pumping out a shed load of fumes and fighting over fuel yet they don't give a toss about the normal people who suffer because of there power ego's.

Do you actually think anything is gonna change if people eat less or change a few stupid light bulbs?

Quite frankly I don't believe in any of the environment in danger c**p, it's all lies to raise prices and force taxes on us, we can spew fumes into the air for thousands of years to come and nothing will get worse, the ice caps will not melt, the wild life will not die, everything will be exactly as it is now.

There is one thing that's certain though, if prices continue to rise then the country will go into anarchy and the crime rate will go of the charts all for mere food.

  2. Comrade,

Your tin foil hat is on a wee bit too tight.

All high fuel and food prices will do is create a larger divide between those who have and those who have not.

Now lets consider this scenario. If someone lives in an area where public transportation is scarce or totally non-existent and decent employment befitting of the skills of the person (such as medical or public service) are many miles away how should he get to his place of employment? Consider now that housing in the immediate area is so high that even by eliminating a car and eating alfalfa sprouts 3 nights a week, the individual could still not afford the cost of living in the area of their employment.

The Earth's environment is not as fragile as you have been led to believe. And as for the Global warming myth, many of the scientists who sat on the United Nations Commission on Global Warming are beginning to change their tune as to the cause of this alleged phenomenon. Point: if man and the SUV are responsible for global warming, then please explain to me why the temperature on Mars is also rising at a comparable rate to ours. Little green SUV's? I don't think so.

It's probably due to solar or long term weather cycles.

What you seek is Nirvana or Utopia. It'll never happen.

The way I enjoy life is to be able to travel where I want, when I want. I also like to enjoy a good meal consiting of food from all the food groups on a regular basis (three squares a day). I also like to drive to the theater, the library and various other venues.

As a last thought, there are fat people all over the world, not just in America. I've seen my fair share of overweight Europeans, Asians and the like. So stop singling out any single group.

  3. Like communism, your hypothesis is a pipe dream.  After much thought, the individuals who are least able to cope with the strife that will occur due to high energy prices are the environmentalist.  I'm talking about war.  Without cheap oil food prices will increase, food production will decrease.  We are not in a vacuum in this, other countries will be forced to take drastic measures for their populations (see Japan WWII).   City life will become more difficult, the lifestyle you are used to will cease.  Organic foods will only be grown in home gardens.  Most people wouldn't know how to catch their own food, much less clean and prepare it.  The world which is gotten so small will again become large.  This is of coarse a worse case scenario.

  4. It is a reality check for many.  High energy prices is really affecting the poor the most.  Some have to quit their jobs because they can't afford the commute.  They are purchasing more processed foods, instead of produce & high quality healthy food that will reduce their chances for chronic diseases, like high blood pressure & diabetes.  In poor countries, people are starving because they cannot afford even one meal a day.

Also, remember that China & India are coming online, economically.  They want all the goodies, especially the cars.  Their governments are keeping their fuel prices subsidized, instead of making them feel the real pain.  They don't care about anyone else & will run over anyone who stands in their way.
