  1. I believe they sound both racist and prejudiced and last night was the worst yet. the broadcast was more of trash talking then giving a unbiased commentary. that there put me off completely and it defeats the spirit of the Olympics.

  2. There always will be some pro-American bias in an Olympic broadcast in this country. The announcers report on events from an American perspective for an American broadcast. And considering how much coverage there is, you'd expect some relatively stupid comments to come out. It happens.

By the way, we have access to Canada's broadcasts, and they usually are more nationalistic.

  3. i don't know about racist.. but that chick with Tiki Barber is annoying as heII

  4. the comments were consistent with the thinking of the majority of americans, i think.  i think folks frequently don't even realize their comments are prejudiced simply because there is no hatred expressed or intended.  the prejudice is so ingrained i believe the speakers think they are stating simple fact rather than uninformed opinion. i do not say this to excuse the nbc commentators.  i suspect news commentators in all countries could use cultural sensitivity training.  and although i think i understand the desire of many americans to identify themselves by their ethnic or national background, i wonder if the practice encourages the thinking that some groups are other than real americans. yes, i'm aware this comment could be construed as blaming the victim. i firmly believe prejudices and racism in the country is rooted in far more ancient and sinister causes than the current trend of every ethnic group to id itself as *****an-american.  but language is powerfull and i hope we can eliminate the hyphenated american soon.  i do want to say that i am very proud that the usa is represented in the olympics and elsewhere by such a diverse group of people.    i notice a growing trend as i surf the web to stereotype americans in the same way that offends people of other nationalities.

  5. No matter what anyone says it can be construed as being prejudice to a race of people
