Question:

Does anyone else think that the NHL should just hand their referees penguins jerseys?

I was at the game tonight, and it was the worst, most lopsided officiating I've seen. I even had some Penguins fans (the smart ones) complain to me about it.

  1. I have to admit that I had the benefit of replays that the people at the game probably didn't, but the officiating didn't seem lopsided to me, and that's coming from a Wings fan who is sorely disappointed that our team did not win. Obstruction, holding, and tripping calls were overlooked for BOTH teams in the overtime, the only things they did call were goalie obstruction, (ok, at least one of those wasn't.) and the high stick, and sorry fellow Wings fans, but when you high stick and draw blood, YOU'RE GONNA GET CALLED ON IT!!! I'd be p*ssed if that happened to one of our guys, so how can I complain when they call us on it? The Pens won tonight because they played hard, they were playing way tired in that last OT, and, sorry to say, THEY EARNED IT

  2. I was just sick and tired of seeing all the goalie interference calls, especially in overtime.  I say just let the game play out as long as nobody is injured and I'm too tired at this point to get into that last 4 minute penalty.  Regardless, it was a good game overall and hopefully that doesn't happen in game 6.

    Go Wings!!!!

  3. No, the penalties were almost even for the game.  Both teams were penalized in overtime more than once, and some penalties were missed for both teams.  You need to look at the situation in a nonjudgmental manner.  There have been occurrences throughout the series and the playoffs for that matter that need to be addressed.  Interfering with a goalie is not allowed, yet it was not called until this evening.

Detroit did not lose do to officiating, they lost because they  went up against Stonewall Marc Andre Fleury.

  4. i have been saying that all year.plus will the nhl big wigs be mad if the penguins lose.it seems they have the nhl eating out of there hands.im from pittsburgh and this whole season been a joke.....

  5. Oh wahhh wahhh wahhh.

There were calls missed on both sides.

As for the goalie interference, if Wings' fans are complaining about them, then you're saying it's ok for the Pens to run at Osgood?  He's a diver anyway.

A player can't interfere with the goalie.  That's a penalty.

And a high stick that draws blood is AUTOMATIC.  If a player can't control his stick, he should go back to juniors to learn how.

Fleury proved last night that he is a MUCH better goalie than Osgood, and stole that game for the Pens singlehandedly.

    Get over it.

  6. Someone wasn't watching very closely. All in all it was a very close game as far as reffing goes. And apparently that's all anyone cares about anymore. It's not about who wins, it's about how many uncalled plays there were. That's what the whole point of the Stanley is, right?

Everything was pretty far. The Wings got away with a couple too, and the outcome is what it should have been.

  7. thats how banwangon fans are, think that the #1 team is under rated, and thinks everyone is against them.... BOO HOO

  8. There were bad calls and missed calls all around. Even though those interference calls may have been bogus, there were several times in OT when the refs could have called the Wings for obstruction. The officiating only looked biased because your team lost. I know the thing to do is whine about the refs when your team loses, but don't be that guy.

  9. Not just Penguins jerseys, they need to give them Malkin and Crosby jerseys.  As an avid hockey fan, Bettman makes me sick.

  10. I hope you also recorded the game on dvr so you could see that you are only half right.

  11. yeah i agree, to h**l with these bangwagoners that already answered....those 2 interference calls the COMMENTATORS were even questioning, but these bandwagon fans wouldn't know because they weren't watching the game, they were probably watching tila tequila or hannah montana...and while the pens were trying to work their pitiful powerplays the wings might have scored during the 4 minutes at least that should have been even, the puck was in the penguins zone for quite a bit of time during their own powerplays anyways and if the strength were even....who knows

speedo-the wings lost due to a POWERPLAY GOAL, hence officiating

  12. My only probem with the referees is that for some reason the referee in the neutral zone is the one that feels obligated to call a penalty that "occurred" AROUND the goal...where there is another referee standing there watching the play.  That is by far getting on my last nerve.

The NHL needs to really sit down and go over that, along with this whole goalie interference rule.  Hahaha who am I kidding...Bettman will call off the meeting so he can go take a summer vacation.

  13. I think I know why the other team fans are always picking on the Pens.  It's cause there team has no talent. Pittsburgh has Hossa (for now), Gonchar, Malkin, Fleury, and Sid (Even thou I been a Pens fan since 1980, Sid is a little overrated). But still complain to your teams owners for not having talented players, it's not Pittsburgh's fault. Tell your team players to skate when they try to stop a Pens player.

  14. was the worst refering i saw in all my life interference against the goalie what bs ...Detroit much better team then them by far ...in every freaking game

  15. Yes I agree with you!  I think the wings should of one this game, they played really hard, and there were some calls that should of been called and it wasn't, I really thought I would of seen the a celebration last night..
