Does anyone else think that the global warming problem is not a problem of the scientific data but rather...?

where we get our data from? With so many organized special interest groups spreading anti-global warming propoganda, who do we trust. Do we trust science or special interest groups for our information on this subject? Sometimes the whole thing reminds me of when a white power group had control of a Martin Luther King website. Of course they didn't like him so can believe anything that they said. Can we believe everthing we hear about global warming? And lastly where should we go for information on this phenomena?

  1. What global warming problem?  If GW were real why would the upper midwest suffer through one of the coldest, snowiest winter in a decade?  Why have the past 4 out of 5 winters been below the 100 year average for temperatures?  why would Wisconsin announce that this year was the snowiest on record?

I can't believe everything I hear about GW or AGW, the 'data' is simply miniscule.

I'm not a scientist, nor do I pretend to be one, call me pragmatic and skeptical of anyone, proclaiming that the sky is falling, that the only way to correct our sins is to follow the advice of a handful of people.  The advice given is to first blame any non-believer, then attack them for not believing the dogma, then burn down their house because it's bigger than anyone elses, then blame 'big oil' even though their 401k holds shares...   Heck, people will even point out spelling errors in denier's questions, just to make them feel smarter than thou...

A question that I have not seen anyone answer here is:  How did the last ice age go away if GW is caused by man?   If we warmed up because of the Sun, then wouldn't that make sense?  The Sun accounts for about all of our heat.  Take it away, and what happens to earth?  (We die)

The same argument could be made regarding God too.

Does anyone else think that proof of God is based solely on where we get our data from and not based on scientific evidence?

Oh, and last time I checked, this was America.  I don't have to believe the GW or AGW dogma, but you can.  And isn't that what makes America great?

  2. AGW is unproven theory.

  3. Just don't listen to the tards who think it's about Al Gore and you'll do fine.

  4. What's the relationship between the Iraq war, Christianity, young earth creationism/intelligent design and global warming? There isn't one. But people take sides on these issues in bulk because there are two primary factions of people- the faith based community (who are immune to facts and believe that propaganda and emotions trump science) and the reality based community who are constantly being accused for believing in basic science.

I am a member of the reality based community myself, and proud of it.

In the 1970's (that wasn't ancient history for most of us) the concern was about global cooling.  Yes, TIME, NEWSWEEK,  and numbers of  news agencies etc. predicted doom and gloom because of the cumulative effects of years of cooler than normal temperatures.

Bottom line, if someone profits or is rewarded because of  the information they are espousing then you question the motive and the acuracy of the information.

  6. Global warming is an issue of scientific data.

People's understanding of global warming is an issue of where they get their information from.

People who get their information from scientists generally have a good understanding of the issue.  People who get their information filtered through the media often don't, because the media can put their own spin on the information.  For example, right-wing blogs will often completely misrepresent the data and/or its significance.  For example, see here:

For this reason we should go directly to scientists for our information about global warming.  For example, RealClimate - climate science from climate scientists.

Or the IPCC report, a summary of all climate science studies.

HOW HAS SO MANY IN THIS COUNTRY BECOMED SO DISILLUSIONED?????  That should be the real question...

Take a look at Gore's reception in Denmark....

Just read...  Also, the latest recession.....  Take a quick look at solar, wind and alternative energy stocks...  You might be surprised...

Hint:  It is kind of like Martha Stewart's issue, where scientists are sharing the information that Global Warming is a scam and, of course you will be the last to know....

However, you heard it here and please write down my name because in a few weeks, I AM GOING TO COME ON HERE AND SAY, "I TOLD YOU SO!"

  8. Global warming is a scare tactic used by special interest groups with an agenda.  The debate is not over, but special interest groups would have you believe it is.

  9. One must look at complete and thorough research.  Not that of people who twist it in order to secure future fundings (paychecks) from special interest groups, political action groups, stockholders or governmental fundings.

The best research one can find is from a "non-profit" group because they aren't "on the payroll" of any one particular point of view. They tend to be more open minded and thorough in their research.  So, they take a "unbiased" approach to the research and examine ALL avenues and compile a much greater amount of data that those who just pick and choose what info "fits their needs".  They then come to the conclusion that is truly supported by all of the facts and they have support from those within their fields of expertise.

This group, here, proves the lie, myth and farce that man made g/w is.  Additionally, this research is supported by over 19,000 SCIENTISTS.
