most of these so-called "sports" (like field hockey, equistrian competitions, etc...) are completely ridiculous to me... what do you all think?

  1. I happen to think that synchronised swimming, shooting and especially baseball are boring and uninteresting, but I accept that some people like them - people who might not like what I like.

If you don't like to watch them, you don't have to.

    Live and let live.

    To each their own.

  2. I enjoy those events more than the pro basketball that I get to see every year with the same players.

  3. the olympics are run by a bunch of eurofags. thats y you see those cheezy "sports". notice y the worldz greatest athletes come from the western hemisphere from sports that are grueling and dangerous. yeah, makes you wonder.

  4. Maybe to you but the world is a big place and the majority does not think the events in Olympics are pointless.

  5. Although many events, such as equestrian and weightlifting, seem pointless, if you look at them from an evolutionary perspective these would be good skills to have. Being able to ride a horse through obstacles very quickly, would probably help you escape a predator. If you are able lift really heavy things you would probably do very well in constructing a sturdy shelter. If you can run or swim faster and longer than everyone else, you will survive. If you are really flexible it may increase your ability to attract a mate. Even though I enjoy watching games like water polo and field hockey, they seem kind of pointless to me, from that stance. And really...table tennis?

  6. Table tennis is another one.

  7. Definitely. Not only are they pointless but they completely devalue winning a medal. For example, look how hard the gymnasts have to work to attain a gold medal. Yet somebody firing a rifle at a plastic target receives the same prize. It's a farce.

  8. All sporting competitions are pointless if you think about it. What difference does it make if you can run or swim 2 hundreths of a second faster than me on a given day.

  9. they aren't pointless.

  10. I don't think they are pointless to those who enjoy them or compete in them...they may say the same thing about sports you like.

  11. weightlifting is pointless to me.

i mean, i understand if you're going to the gym and lifting weights and all

    but as a sport, wtf?

  12. Thing is that they can be ridiculous to you because probably the US or whichever country you root for , has not competitor. But these sports do have competition and the countries that bring athletes to them want these players to win. They take pride in that.  I don't really know how rifle got to be an Olympic event as well as archery. But field hockey is the same thing as basketball and water polo, just another version of soccer.. get the ball in the goal. And that's a sport, it takes a lot of hard work to be good at it.

  13. not really, but that's just my personal opinion.

field hockey and handball are the only events i've watched.

  14. I like weightlifting.it is so exciting, you don't like it because you have not realized the joy.

  15. First, learn how to spell something before you bash it.  It's called the equestrian competition.

Secondly, I think basketball is pointless, but I don't complain about it being in the Olympics.  Just because you don't like something doesn't mean everyone else doesn't.

So basically, this question is ridiculous to me.

  16. Well, they have to drop baseball and basketball for sure.  I don't like those sports, therefore, they are pointless.

Wait - did I just catch your attitude?  It must be contagious...
