Does anyone else think this about the Olympics?

i really think they should make cheerleading an Olympic sport. of course only level 5-6 or college levels. They made synchronized swimming an olympic sport so why not cheer? cheer has worlds and synchronized swimming doesnt. theres many olympic sports that cheer sould take the place of.

some of you "know-it-alls" are probably saying "uhh my high school cheer team sucks. of course they shouldnt, i mean all they do is wave pom-poms around. its not a sport"

I think that's a great Idea! I love cheer-leading and its a lot harder than it looks! They work their butts off! I would actually watch the Olympics if that was a sport

I think a competition cheer squad would be a great Olympic team.  I think they could create a USA team just like they do for any other sport.  I would certainly watch it! :)

If trampoline and walking are event this could be an event as well.  Only question would be do other countries even do this.  I've seen the college cheer comps, but its all american colleges.  It not much of a sport if america is only ones doing this.

I was actually thinking that yesterday... Cheer leading would be a terrific sport in the Olympics! I was also thinking... do many countries have cheer leading? If they did, it would be fun to watch and I'm sure they have considered it, but possibly USA and a couple other coutries know about cheer leading. But, I don't know! Good thought! :)

i think it should be also but honestly the only reason why i think its not is because not a lot of people are interested in that. but u never know in the future this may happen

Sorry but cheer leading will NEVER be an Olympic Sport... I will admit that has been reported to be the MOST dangerous sport among school kids...That is why they have cheer leading competitions

well cheer leaders are in the Olympics. their called the beach girls and they are at all beach volleyball games.  They don't compete but the closest cheerleaders are getting to Olympics is if they switch over to rhythmic gymnastics.

plus to be an Olympic sport you have to:

1. have a petition you turn into the International Olympic Committee (IOC)

2. it has to be a popular sport ALL OVER THE WORLD

3. the committee has to take a vote with over half for it.

4. even if that happens you got to wait till 2016 at the nearest

i totally agree with you! i did competive cheering and it was way harder than people think. of course we also cheered for our school's sports teams but we had 2 hour practices everyday just for our competing rountine. we worked way hard and it's not as easy as some people may think cheer is!

I agree with you. The only problem is, if they make the cheerleading an Olympic sport, US is going to be the only country participating in it.
