Does anyone else think this is just barking mad, UK?

A woman is selling her one bedroom flat for a staggering £900,000, situated in Nottinghill, London.

Just because its the flat featured in the film Nottinghill above the travel bookshop. Property prices in London are just so high, its no wonder many people simply can't afford to even get a foot on the property ladder.

  1. it's the idiot that will buy it that is mad!

  2. Is it mental!

Some areas are like a fashion accessory rather than the convieniance of location..etc  Some people could be attracted as they 'think' a different 'class' of people would live there (biggots) because of houw expensive the area is.

We moved to outskirts of London for our first house and got a lot more for our money - also better local ammenities!

So, YES, you are Right - is it shocking!  What about the converted broom cupboard that has been converted opposite harroods?  Its 250k and the size of a prison cell - toilet is IN the shower!

  3. They'll not get that for it now - not with the Housing market sinking like the Titanic.

  4. Barking mad? No. If you owned the flat and the estate agent thinks its realistic price, would you really pitch it at say £500,000?

  5. Market economics.  London has probably 16-17% of the UK population - the UK has 60 million people in an area the size of Wyoming.

The population density in France is about half ours - the US has 5 times the UK's population but 40 times our land area.

The other factor is the break up of the extended family in the UK - fewer family groups living together -> more people want separate homes.

  6. Yeah, I can't get onto the property ladder and I'm in my early thirties. Houses and flats are far too expensive in the UK, they're not worth the prices that people pay either. I've worked abroad and lived in some lovely flats and apartments and they are less dearer than UK flats and houses. I don't see why this country has to rip people off for it is not on.

  7. Yes I agree it is, however if some idiot is prepared to pay such an inflated price for it just because it featured in a film then more fool them. Some people seem to have more money than sense.

  8. Yes I agree it is ridiculous, I find it gob smacking that my sons two bed flat in Marylebone is worth almost the same as my 6 bed villa and two apartments In Spain, UK prices are crazy.

  9. Thats just crazy!!  ÃƒÂ‚£900000 for a one bedroom flat for Godsake!!  Good luck to the @r$ehole that buys it!!!  Mind you the greedy cow might not get a buyer at that price!!

  10. There is nothing to stop anyone from trying to sell a property at any price.

I could try selling my house for that price but I haven't got a cat in h***s chance of getting it.

If someone wants to pay that sort of price that is up to them and good luck to the seller.

Personally, I can't see it selling in the current financial climate.

  11. There are the haves and the have nots, I say let them waste there money so they can gloat to their artificial friends.

lol, thats sounds a bit bitter when I read it back, oh well
