Calif. nanny deported after child's death kesq.comAssociated Press - August 13, 2008 5:14 PM ET AUBURN, Calif. (AP) - A nanny acquitted on charges of shaking a 16-month-old baby to death has been deported to Mexico.Immigration officials say Veronica Martinez Salcedo was ordered deported August 6 after prosecutors decided not to pursue a third trial on assault charges in the case.Prosecutors say Salcedo shook 18-month-old Hannah Juceam so hard she suffered a fatal brain injury. Salcedo's attorney says the child died of a stroke caused by a blood clot. Two separate juries deadlocked on the case.Salcedo had spent the last two years in jail because she was an illegal immigrant.does annyone else think she should have been punished for doing this to the baby rather than being deported????
