Okay to protest outside is one thing but to go in and disrupt the guy's speech I thought was completely out of line and made them look completely foolish.

  1. Code Pink is ridiculous. But they have a right to be lunatics. They were out of line, but it wasn't that big of a deal.

  2. The Republicans can't even maintain order in their convention where you have to have proper credentials to get into the hall, how are they supposed to keep order in the country or the world!

  3. big difference between protesters and riot's

  4. Most definitely.

  5. Yes. It was rude.

Protest all you want outside, but don't interrupt the guy when he's speaking.

  6. Both sides have nut job far wing groups that neither side is proud of.

The code Pinks are well known for being nut jobs.

I thought it was tacky, but was not surprised considering the group.

  7. I suspect they were shills of McCains, he had an excellent remark about them, spoken right on cue as if he knew exactly when it would happen.

I DO agree that protesters should be kept outside.  I also think they should be ENCOURAGED to protest outside.  Inside the convention is a business meeting and those who are not there to participate shouldn't be allowed to disrupt.

BTW was there any reporting of them after the evenings proceedings?  if so I missed it.

AND did anyone else think that the woman looked like Cindy Sheehan?  I really thought it was her.

  8. No, it is totally ok for Obama followers to barge in, cut someone off, flash their breast, then slash tires, start fires, and break out windows, then cry fowel about violence. But no one els better do it

  9. Agreed.

To me they looked mentally ill. I don't mean that as an insult, but as an honest analysis of their behavior and its impact.

  10. Since when do democrats care about appearances? They're reckless, compulsive, selfish, and disrespectful.   It shows how afraid they are of losing yet again...to disrupt the opposition's speech shows that they are afraid of his words.  There's a reason for that. McCain makes a little too much sense.

  11. obama can't control his supporters

  12. Do you expect anything less from Obama supporters,I am surprised they didnt try to burn the house down,

  13. What do you expect in a society that has ideal of

    ,

Do what you want when you want to do

    .

You'd even have a demonstration at a bubble gum convention

    .

Stating it is dangerous to your health to chew bubble gum

    .

  14. Ridiculous attention WHORES. Still stuck in the 60's.

  15. Peaceful protesting and the 'right to assemble' doesn't involve slashing tires, breaking windows and throwing bleach in people's eyes...I guess the liberals missed that somehow.

These 'peaceful protesters' aren't going to be so 'peaceful' when they end up getting someone killed, and protesting is restricted because of them.

The protesters at both the DNC and the RNC have been Democrats...Republicans don't behave that way

Those people are an embarassment to our country...I have no problem with peaceful demonstrating (legal protesting), but there is a time and a place for it (pretty much ANY time or place where our candidates are NOT scheduled to address our country)

Interrupting the candidates during their speeches does NOT get the protesters' voices heard, it only gets them arrested, and they KNOW that...They aren't trying to be heard when they do this, they are only showing their immaturity and disrespect for other people and our country...Attention seekers, that's all they are, and it damages their cause, it doesn't help it

@Mighty M: "Free speech"?...They did NOT speak, they could not have spoken, they KNEW that they would not be permitted to speak because someone ELSE was speaking...McCain has a right to "free speech" also...The protesters can speak all they want, but not when someone else is speaking...Should someone be able to bust into a city council meeting to scream their opinions?...Can you even see how stupid that is?...What is wrong with you people?

@Teener: They disguise themselves because they KNOW they're planning to do something illegal...They say so themselves on their own website:

"Evans "dressed up" last night -- temporarily covered up her pink outfit with black, put her trademark red hair in a bun on the top of her head, and went off to the event accompanied by another cofounder of the group, Medea Benjamin. (The day before, Benjamin had interrupted Phyllis Schafly appearance at a pro-life event hilariously called Life of the Party, and the mid-50s albeit not terribly tall blonde woman was referred to as "young," by the press.) The two entered the hall shortly before Palin's speech began, stripped off their outer layers, and revealed their message:

  16. No.  There were protesters at the DNC too. Don't get your panties in a bunch.  Man up! :p

  17. The one thing you can count on with liberals is destruction, of society, of morals and of property. They do not even have a concept of decency or respect.

Of the property they destroyed, some could have belonged to some of their ilk. They don't care as long as they can destroy.

  18. They were out of line, but McCain handled the disruption well, didn't miss a l**k.

  19. It is possible that the protesters were let in on purpose. Makes for a good image that the Publicans are fighting, "They are a bunch of Obama types and this is where you will go if you elect him". It is good politics and has worked in the past.

The posts above give some credence to the idea that they were allowed in order to label them as Libs and Obama supporters. It was done to Humphrey in his try for the presidency.

  20. Just reinforced my belief that liberals and Democrats are disgusting.  I'll bet the protesters who threw bleach on that 80 year old man are regaling their friends with stories of their bravery.

  21. Liberals only believe in Freedom of Speech for those who agree with them.  Not for people with opposing views.  Similar to liberal women who are all for Womens' Lib for liberal women ONLY.  Not for womens lib for conservative women.....The Libs are ALWAYS hypocritical!

  22. I think protesters like that just make fools of themselves, but I am sure there are always a couple that sneak through most events.  I think McCain handled it very well but I am glad they moved them on out because the purpose of the DNC or the RNC is to get like minded individuals together to celebrate your unity and your choice.

I also appreciated the fact that the reporters did not give the disrupters any credit that they didn't deserve.

If people come to an open speech then they should have equal chance to ask questions as long as they can do it peacefully.  I am sure that will happen a lot in the next 8 weeks.

  23. They are ignorant...I hope they were beaten down

  24. I think its great.. Much more exciting that the same POW stories we heard for the past 30 years..

  25. Not at all. When people are dying in a needless war based on lies, you can expect your citizens to be upset.

The violent ones weren't Democrats (and neither are all anti-war protestors). They hate both parties.  They verify it on their website below:

  26. I was not surprised, there are some real kooks in this country. It was in very bad taste.

  27. I think Code Pink is ridiculous. But I didn't see the problem w/the peaceful "Iraq Veterans Against the War" protesters. Maybe there was more than showed on TV but I just wonder if it was a problem how they got in. They had those shirts on and they had huge banners. No one noticed?

Rayne-I agreed the Code Pink girls were out of line. I was referring to the guys with the t-shirts on that said 'Iraq Veterans Against the War' and the banner that said "You can't win an occupation".

  28. there is this thing in America we call 'free speech', maybe you've heard of it. I think it took some b-a-l-l-s to do it at the RNC.

  29. whatever happened to hippies smoking a joint and being mellow?i know when i smoked a joint i didnt feel the need to protest.i was mellow and laid back

  30. I agree. I believe that there is a time and place for everything, even protest. Yes, people have the right to free speech and voice their opinions and last night during the guys speech was not the appropriate time nor place. Very very disrespectful.

I don't recall anyone doing that when Obama spoke at the DNC. I guess Republicans have better manners, tact and class than most Liberals do.

Just look at how Libs behave in public vs. the Repubs. Libs are breaking windows, damaging private property, hitting and fire-bombing cops. You won't ever see a repub running to throw a pie-in-your-face because they don't agree with you ideas and personal opinions (like what happened to Ann Coltur at Columbia University ).  Again very very disrespectful.

  31. I totally agree.  How these people get anyone to join them through these kinds of actions is beyond me.  Who could look at someone behaving like a complete lunatic and think "Boy, I'm glad that person's on my side...He/She really makes us all look good."  These people are the absolute BEST friends the people they're protesting against could have.  They make everyone else look calm and poised and rational by comparison.  Did anyone interrupt Obama's speech??  Have a little common courtesy and respect.  Code Pink???  Is that who this woman was representing last night?  These people are complete nutjobs.  Scary far-far left wing zealots.  Need a hobby.  Give women a bad name.
