  1. For the first year of a baby's life breast-milk or formula provides all the necessary nutrients needed (with solids starting at 6 months).  No need for supplements

  2. Back in the olden days people did, that was before vitamins and formula etc.. Do not give anything like that to your baby though.

  3. I don't. I don't think it is beneficial.

  4. No, because I can't find a safe brand but it is something I consider on occasion  I'm also not one for routine supplementation but fish is so expensive lately.

I'm assuming you are referring to a baby already on other non-breastmilk foods.  I would not recommend it before you start other solids.

Its a heck of a lot safer than commercial vitamin D drops which generally contain peanut oil (with the allergenic part removed -yeah I totally believe them).

However you need to be careful that its mercury free and I believe cold pressed for some reason.

to start offering cod liver oil, which is an excellent source of the omega-3 fatty acids DHA and EPA (also important for brain develoment) as well as vitamins A and D. Start with a 1/4 teaspoon of high-vitamin cod liver oil or 1/2 teaspoon regular dose cod liver oil, doubling the amount at 8 months.12 Use an eye dropper at first; later baby can take cod liver oil mixed with a little water or fresh orange juice

(this says 4 months which I very much do not agree with)
