Does anyone have a Czechoslovakian heritage?

I am about 50% Czechoslovakian from my dad's side and I was wondering if anyone else here is at all? I want to know if I look Czechoslovakian at all! :)

And before you respond saying that the countries are just the Czech Republic and Slovakia, I am still Czechoslovakian- my paternal great-grandparents came to America BEFORE the country was divided.

I have naturally dirty-blonde hair, very blue eyes and a heart-shaped face. If anyone has ever been to either country please let me know if I look native!

Thanks!

  1. i would say that both Czechs and Slowaks do not look ethnically different from the /caucasian-hate that word/ Americans. There is variety of hair colours, and overall appearance, since the central Europe used to mix a lot of blood from various sources.\

However majority of the people here are actually rather dark hair-coloured, and the natural blondes are quite uncomon, if not rare.

IMHO, it is rather cultural background  than bloodline, what makes you a Czech. Including gestures, dressing, nourishment habits etc.

to see the >natives<, check Adriana Sklenarikova, Eva Herzigova, Andrea Veresova, Alena Vranova, Monica Absolonova... local models, and celebrities. Or Mrs. Buffon, former Seredova - do not know her first name..funny i guess she is Alena

  2. hi yes I am 100% CCzechoslovakian left in 66- i also share dirty blonde hair Green eyes and a heart shaped face- we are all fair. but  we have been invaded by so many countries  that we are also dark hair skin ect .But regardless a beautiful culture with a versatile language and a very rich history. And the Best food. I hope this helps you -By the way everyone love the Czechoslovakian girls so here to us. Tatiana

  3. I have a similar background, but it was my maternal great-grandparents. My grandmother was born in the US. I never had an opportunity to get to either country. As for your looks, a photo would have been nice. Thanks.

  4. Hello. I am half Czech too my dad and his side of the fam migrated here to Australia when he was just 1.

My dad and nan have both passed away.

I am looking for my relatives in Czech, and have tracked down a family friend who is visiting them in Tabor right now.

I am also learning czech and am planning to visit there soon.

I know that Czech women are very beautiful.

  5. I am 50% too 3rd generation from the immigration. But I don't know if I look it either. I have brown hair green and blue eyes and a heart shape face.

  6. I'm German, and my great-grandma was from Czechoslovakia (or rather Bohemia, as it was called then). My fathers ancestors, however, came from southern Hungary (its rumored that there was some gipsy blood involved), and I rather inherited those genes, so I have dark hair and brown eyes. My mother, however, is blonde and has greyish-blue eyes, so she's more the Slavic type.

I'm a frequent visitor to the Czech Republic, as I live near the border, but I speak the language very badly. I find it tongue-breaking, and the grammar is horrible to learn. But my Czech friends all speak German or English, so that's not a big problem.

According to your description, you look VERY native, although there are many Czechs with dark hair and eyes, too. But the heart-shaped face seems typical to me.

And, yes, what tcorbai said about the best food is right. And also the best beer. In the world! (And I drank many a beer in many a country.)

[I liked the thing about the "versatile language", btw. TOO versatile to me. I think I'll never learn it.]
