  2. Some excellent ones are on allrecipes, com

  3. I thought bread pudding and bread and butter pudding were the same thing.  Anyway one recommendation is that you subsititute brioche for bread.

  5. BREAD PUDDING

    4 eggs

    1/4 cup butter

    1 tsp. salt

    1 tsp. cinnamon

    2 cups raisins

    3 cups milk

    3/4 cup sugar

    1 tsp. vanilla

1 pound loaf of bred, cubed  (fresh or stale both will work)

Mix all together and bake in a 9x9 pan at 350 for 45-50 minutes.  You can also cook this in a crock pot for aprox. 1 hour.

Serve with warm vanilla sauce drizzled over top.

    VANILLA SAUCE

    1 cup white sugar

    1 tablespoon corn starch

    2 cups water

    1/4 cup butter

    2 tsp vanilla

In a saucepan, combine the sugar and cornstarch. Whisk in the water, stirring until blended. Bring mixture to a boil and continue to cook for 1 minute, stirring constantly. Remove from heat and mix in the butter and vanilla. Serve warm

  6. Easy - not many people know the difference between the two! I personally always preferred bread pudding whilst my mother always made bread & butter pudding. The recipe I use is an old one of Delia Smith's.

    8oz of bread

    1/2 pint milk

    2oz melted butter

    3oz sugar (preferably soft brown)

    2 tsp mixed spice

    1 egg

6oz mixed fruit (currants, sultanas, raisins, candied peel)

    grated rind of 1/2 orange

    grated nutmeg

    preheated oven 180'C

    2-2&1/2pint dish well buttered

Breakup the bread (brown or white or mixed) pour over milk and leave to soak for 30min

Add butter sugar & egg, mix well with a fork breaking up any lumps of bread. Add spice. Add fruit & orange rind. Spread into dish and top with nutmeg.

    Bake 1hr 15min

You can use stale bread if you so wish but also works very well with fresh - in fact any bread!!
