Does anyone have a child in a multi-sensory class?

My daughter is in the first grade and is in a multi-sensory class. Is is learning to read in the Orton Gillingham way. I'm afraid she might be dyslexia. If so what are somethings I can do for her??

  1. The school can do testing to see if your daughter has a learning disability, all you have to do is request it.  If you want to help her at home the most important thing is to first help her enjoy reading and see that books are fun.  

    Take her to the library, read to her, read the book then watch the movie, have her read aloud to you, go to storytime at the library and bookstore, have lots of different types of reading material around, and things like that.

    There are a lot of things you can do to actually teach her to read.  Check out the International Reading Association website, ira.org.  Since you also think she may have dyslexia check out the web site for the National Health Institute so you really understand dyslexia, www.ninds.nih.gov/disorders/dyslexia/dys... and then check the International Dyslexia Association website, www.interdys.org.
