  1. What an interesting purse! It is made from the pull-tabs from aluminum cans. A strip of either leather or vinyl appears to be woven through the tabs to secure them together. You may need to experiment with this until you get what you want. I doubt there is a pattern to be found, but I've learned that nothing is impossible with the Internet!

The handle appears to have a layer of some sort of backing where the strip of leather or vinyl is attached while being woven through the tabs. This may also be true with the purse body. I'm betting that the interior of the purse is lined with some heavy fabric in order to protect contents of the purse.

This purse is very unique! I'm going to start collecting tabs and try working out a pattern myself as I can use this design in my costume making. What a great idea for wearable chain mail that may prove flexible!

  2. I don't think your going to find a published pattern for this.  it looks like it could be a fun and possibly frustrating project!  I would start by making a mesh base(like filet crochet) then fill in the grid using dc, chain3, dc  in each square to mimic the tab part of the purse.  You could maybe use metalic bedspead-weight cotton to give it the silver sheen.

    Hope this helps.

    Happy crocheting!
