  1. Check the Des Moines Register archives. They will also be available at the public library.

  2. The text of articles from past issues of the Des Moines Register (since 1999) are archived at Newsbank.  Searching is free; there's a charge for full text.  This is the easiest and quickest way to search and retrieve articles.  You may search for and purchase an individual article by going to:

    http://nl.newsbank.com/nl-search/we/Arch...

Another possible option is to go to a public library with a subscription to the Newsbank database that includes the DMR.  Some Iowa public libraries and college or university libraries will have subscriptions; mine does.  The article text will be available to you at no charge although they may charge to print it.

If it's images of the newspaper pages that you want, you'll have to find a library that also has microfilm of old papers.  Again, you'll have the most luck in larger public libraries or college & university libraries.  Some libraries also provide for printing from microfilm reader/printers.

  3. Try EBay, and you may find one.

  4. Go to the local library and go to the reference center. Most libraries have old newspapers on microfilm that you can look at.
