I could laugh, yell, cough, or sneeze, and my dog won't budge. But when I cry (not even if I'm hysterical or anything, just tearing up and sniffling a bit) my dog comes over to me and gently nudges at me with her nose and licks me until I laugh and then she lays back down. Just now while I was watching some sad footage on the news she did it. It really is amazing. How does shknower these emotions? Is this normal?

  1. YESSS! My German Shepherd will run from whatever room in the house she is in whenever i begin to cry, even if she is sleeping. When I sniffle, she is there in an instant. If i don't pay attention to her and continue to cry, she begins to nudge my arm and put her head against me until i stop crying and she lets me hug her and cry on her. She is the best one to cheer me up when I'm upset =]

  2. I have a service dog.  Believe me she knows more about me then I could ever imagine.  She knows my moods, my life, and almost the way that I think.  Yes we are one.

  3. yes because act like your panicing and the dog will get scared and pase or look wierd

  4. I've found that my cats will do this also, though I don't even have to be crying.  If I'm just having a bad day, or feeling bad, they tend to pick up on the vibe (or maybe just the facial expression) and come over.  Sometimes they'll be snuggling, but a lot of the time the cats will just come over so that they are sitting very near me (but still casually aloof).

The dog is more likely to snuggle up and put his head in my lap or l**k my face.

  5. yes all my dogs gather around me and try to get into my lap

  6. When I cry or am very upset, I lay next to my dog.  I curl up right next to him on his bed and he puts his paw right over me.  I fit right under his arm because he is a 150 pound bullmastiff.

  7. aww, your pup's sensible(:

you're lucky(:  i really don't know but I bet she has special feelings for you

haha finally someone that understands you:P

  8. One of my dogs recently passed away, and I was devastated. My Miniature Pinscher however knew something was wrong. Dogs have a certain way about them and always seem to be there to comfort you in your time of need. Not only did she stick close by, but she licked my tears away and made sure she was in my lap always. I've found that dogs know quite a bit about their owners, and want to be there for them when they are upset.

  9. YES, i have 4 lhasa apsos and when i cry they do exactly the same thing. last week i was soo sad and really depressed and stressed . one of my dogs threw up everyday for 4 days, and no change of food or anything, i swear he felt what i was feeling. I love my dogs sooo much!!

  10. My dog does it, I think it's a mutual thing though, I have learned to tell when he's not in a good mood and needs me. The funny thing is he can tell when I get mad at my boyfriend and won't let him in the bed if I'm mad at him. It's kinda funny. I think it's just a connection you start to get between each other, and in the end you just want to help and take care of each other. I'd consider it a good thing if your dog can tell your emotions.

  11. My cat consoles me when i cry if that helps...

  12. I have a poodle and when I cry she cries....

  13. you can say dogs still have that six sense that people lost along time ago. they know how you feel. my dog never leave my side if im sick or upset, because he knows something is wrong.

  14. It's cause they're so used to seeing our smiling faces that when we act odd, like sad, they come over to inspect it. They want us to be normal again, in this case be happy.
