e.g how long is the life expectancy, can you keep them up all year, how much does it cost to heat, maintain etc. I am thinking of getting one for the kids so that they can practise their swimming in the summer - it looks big enough for adults to swim in too! thank

  1. it depends on how long you want to keep the pool up will tell you how much it will cost to run and heat it. it will also depend on how well you take care of the pool will tell the life expectancy of it.

  2. First of all, I don't have the 18ft one. I have the 16 ft one, but it is still in the box. I bought it on March 31, because our state sales tax went up on April 1. I live in Indiana and it's too early to set it up yet. Anyway, to answer your question, I'll tell you about my experience.

About 5 years ago I bought the smaller version (10 or 12ft by 3). I bought it used, from a friend. It had an air leak that was never found. I used those foam "noodles" to shove up under the ring to keep the air from leaking to the point that the water would pour out. (It wasn't set perfectly level, either, so that contributed to the water leaking out easier, too.) As a single, adult female, who never learned how to swim, this was perfect for me. I was able to learn how to float (while still being able to touch bottom if needed), and even learned how to maneuver around under water. It took me about 4 "frog" strokes to get from one side to the other. I used it for 3 summers, which meant that I really got my $20 worth. I took it down every fall. I gave it away when I had to move, but the hoses were starting to get weather-rotted anyway. I believe that I only used one "maintenance" package of chemicals each year, but I could be wrong.

I've seen them around this area that are up year round. But I don't know what all is involved. When you buy a new one, it comes with an instructional DVD that should explain how it can be done. Like I said, mine is still in the box, so I haven't checked it out yet.

Now that I'm again living at a place where I can have a pool, I am a repeat customer for the easy set. I'm ready, but currently the weather isn't cooperating.
