I will be in Santiago very soon and need a hotel at the start of my trip and the last 2 nights of my trip. We are meeting my daughter and we would want a room for three. We want clean, safe, charming would be nice and not too pricey, by that I mean less than $150 a night , I'm frugal what can i say. i'd rather spend money on an activity than a place to sleep. Speaking of that if you can recommend any activities in the greater Santiago area or beyond, have at it!

Thanks for your imput!

  1. I have also heard good things about the Holiday Inn Express, but keep in mind that it is located in a very busy part of town surrounded by restaurants like Hooters, TGI Fridays and Bennigans. If you want something that is more from an insider's perspective, try Hotel Orly. Very central, very well run and gives you a more authentic vision of the city.

Definitely visit Valparaíso (watch out for pick-pockets both there and in Santiago) and Viña del Mar, each worth a day. Visit wineries in the Aconcagua Valley. If you're adventurous go hiking in the Cajón de Maipo- if not, just take a drive there and check it out. In Santiago tour the Bellavista neighborhood and eat at Le Flaubert or just about any place on the street called "Orrego Luco" in Providencia.

Enjoy! I lived in Stgo for several years and loved it!

  2. I was very pleased with Hotel gallerias ? san antonia calle near the centrum. All was perfect. Even the restaurant is good. It is in the centrum

  3. I can recommend three and of different prices: my all time favourite is Hyatt Regency but of course we are talking of about 400$ a night. However, just in front of Hyatt is Hotel Kennedy which is a beautiful 5 star boutique hotel which is actually between 120 and 150$ a night. If you want something nice, central and not so expensive, I also recommend Holiday Inn express in Vitacura which is not like the Holiday Inn expresses you find in the States. This one is an awesome 4 star hotel.

If you want some tours, I recommend Viña and Valparaiso tour, the city tour of course and if you have some extra time go to Hacienda Los Lingues in San Fernando which is a beautiful 17th Century Hacienda with a lot of history, now an hotel and restaurant.
